"If you’re looking for peace and quiet a bit away from the main town, Tuktuk Timbul is very well located. We stayed in one of their traditional-style little houses, which were very cute and charming. It’s a great spot if your plan is simply to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and do nothing much. The homestay has a restaurant (we didn’t try the food though), a pool, a ping pong table, and a billiard table — so you can easily stay entertained without leaving the property. For the price, it’s definitely good value. That said, if you want to explore or do activities around Lake Toba, this may not be the best base. There isn’t much to do in the immediate area, and the staff weren’t very helpful when we asked for recommendations — apart from renting a scooter, they didn’t provide much guidance. Communication was also tricky as they don’t really speak English. Service felt a bit cold overall; the owners live nearby but never greeted us, which made us feel like we were disturbing them rather than being welcomed. In summary: a good option if your goal is to switch off, relax, and stay put at the homestay itself. But if you’re looking for friendly service, local tips, or activities beyond the property, you might find it lacking."

"This accommodation is right by the lake. They have a full range of water sports equipment and activities. The staff are excellent, always smiling and helpful in every department. The spa has great views and the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing getaway. The rooms are spacious. There are 3 swimming pools for children and adults, all with panoramic views."

"The hotel owner was incredibly friendly; he picked us up from the pier and dropped us back off for free. He also arranged a fantastic driver for a good price, who shared insights about various attractions while driving us around and even took us to some unique, non-touristy Batak spots. The view from the room was stunning, and the hotel also has direct access to the lake. The room was clean, and it was a lovely touch that the owner left complimentary bananas from his garden in the room."

"This is a relatively large hotel in the area, but it's been around for a while. The rooms are quite clean, but there are bound to be bugs. The standard rooms don't have lake views, and the facilities are very basic, as they haven't been renovated since opening. There's only one power outlet in the entire room, and the lighting is dim. I wouldn't recommend booking there; the deluxe rooms might be better. The location is excellent, with a pier and lake views, and the staff are very friendly."

"Everything was satisfactory overall. The only thing that needs attention is the bathroom; water tends to pool on the floor around the sink and toilet area after showering."

"I stayed one night and was very happy with the room. Nice mountain view Andre two chairs to sit outside. The shower was not bad, but the lighting was not very good. If you want to shave you will have to use day light. The other thing is that the sink it outside the bathroom, so hair will fall on the floor. Other than that it was a nice stay."

"It was my first time in Samosir, and Toba Village Inn is super convenient with an amazing view. The staffs are helpful and friendly too. You’d be able to rent your scooters from the inn itself. Will definitely visit them again 😍"

"Great place! We were given a chooce for our fanily suite that we booked whether we want ground floor or top floor. We requested for top floor instead bcus we wanted to see sunrise. Great place for a short trip. Very clean and amazing location on Samosir Island."

"The view of lake Toba is stunning, beautiful Batak architecture style, but the room we stayed had some ants, otherwise is still clean, breakfast is local food, honestly we had a good stay, but really not for perfectionists."
