WELLCABIN TENJIN

9.2/10
Great

Worst hotel experience in a month of traveling Japan — avoid if you have other options I've been traveling across Japan for a full month — Osaka, Tokyo, Hiroshima and more — and Wellcabin Tenjin is hands down the worst service I've received anywhere. Made a simple booking mistake and reached out to correct it within 10 minutes — not the last day, not last minute, literally within 10 minutes of booking. I wasn't asking for a refund or a cancellation — I simply wanted to change the date and upgrade to a more private room, both of which would have benefited them financially. Still a flat out no. I petitioned multiple times, even with the support of the hotel booking agent advocating on my behalf, and they remained completely unmoved. No empathy, no flexibility, no solutions. Just a stubborn, repeated refusal — for the most basic and reasonable requests imaginable. The app also showed ”Failed to cancel booking” and ”Failed to modify dates” so there was no way to self-serve either. Completely trapped. On top of that: 11am checkout means you are gone — permanently. You cannot come back inside, cannot use any facilities, cannot sit for a break, cannot do anything. You are physically out the door at 11am with no return. Most hotels worldwide let you hang around the lobby or common areas — not here. Just thrown out onto the street. No luggage storage after checkout — in all my years of traveling worldwide, this is the first place I've ever stayed that refuses to hold your bags. Not once have I encountered this anywhere else. You're left dragging everything around all day with zero support. The place simply doesn't feel welcoming — from the moment something goes wrong, you're completely on your own Nickel-and-dime culture — they charge a fee for everything, including slippers. Every other hostel I stayed at across Japan provided them free, daily. Not here. Locker room has no camera — you cannot leave anything safely here Laundry is overpriced — the most expensive I encountered across every city I stayed in Japan For a capsule hotel marketing itself on convenience, it fails on almost every front. Every basic comfort comes with a price tag, and the moment you need any flexibility or human decency, they shut the door on you — literally and figuratively — even when you act immediately, in good faith, and are willing to spend more. The only thing going for it is the central Tenjin location — but that's the neighborhood, not the hotel. I travel around the world constantly and this is genuinely the first time I've encountered a hotel this rigid, unwelcoming, and unhelpful. Only consider this place if you have absolutely no other options. Otherwise, keep looking.

Excellent locations. Room size is good for solo, will be too small for 2. Overall room and hotel are clean and sound proof consider good since is located next to the train station. Highly appreciate the housekeeping staffs to leave a bag of towels and toiletries hanging at your room door when I requested for Do Not Disturb. Will stay here again on the next visit to Hakata.

Friendly staff. If you didn’t book breakfast with your room you can’t add it at the hotel. Open plan toilet into room was odd, especially as the hi-tech toilet seat opens every time you move. Also, the concrete walls in the toilet area had holes and obviously modified areas - it looked rather unfinished. The area near the hotel is quite noisy, but inside this was muted suitably.

Location of this hotel is excellent! Extremely easy to find - exit from the Chikushi Gate (East) at JR Hakata station and walk about 5 mins to reach the hotel. There is also a bus stop just 100 meters away (1 min walk) that you can take from the airport to reach the hotel, or from the hotel to reach the airport. Room is clean and decent size. Love the bathroom and the standing shower which has a nice rain shower, handheld shower and jacuzzi style massage shower. There’s also a bathtub for those who like to take baths. Room amenities can be obtained at hotel lobby so there is little waste - just take what you need. There is also a coffee machine that is free at the lobby. There is a self-service washing machine and dryer at level 3, level 7 and level 11. There is also a Family Mart just infront of the hotel and also a Lawson just around the corner. Great for getting late night light snacks. Overall, an excellent hotel! Highly recommended!

Not a bad hotel, was one of the cheapest we could find at the time. Room sizes are very small, toilet is separate from shower room which is quite common. Not much service experienced since it was self check-in/out, but not a negative experience either. They had umbrellas at the entrance to borrow. Cleanliness could be improved, there were a lot of stains on the walls inside the bathroom. Location is not bad if you don’t mind walking towards Tenjin or Hakata. There’s also plenty of convenience stores, supermarkets and cafes nearby. Good space outside to catch a taxi/get dropped off.

Hotel is located on streets with many famous eateries and shops amongst local and foreign tourists. Tenjin Minami station on Nanakuma Line is 5-6 mins away on foot. Travelled in 3 pax and coincidentally on the weekend where there was a bunch concert and live shows happening in the city so hotel rate was extra expensive (normal weekend is alr very expensive).. Found this hotel within our budget and can fit 3 pax. Sofa bed was kinda comfortable but not the pillow. More used to firmer latex ones while the one they provided is either polyester or microfiber filled so it was very very very soft! Room was tight when the 3 of us opened our luggage. Shower has good water pressure. There’s also public bath on site. They provide in room water purifier machine too.

This hotel is small but perfectly formed, with an excellent location that's super close to popular spots like Ichiran Ramen, Tenjin, and the Yatai (food stalls) – all within a 10-minute walk. The self check-in and check-out process was very convenient. Plus, there's a bar where you can grab drinks and snacks anytime, which saved us a lot on beverage costs. The only minor drawback was that some corners of the room had a bit of dust, so that could be improved!

The hotel location, cleaning level of each area, etc. is very good. However, there are 2 points of my comments and hopefully the hotel will improve them. 1) The bathroom at the hotel room is a bit stinky and spreading to the room. I guess the bathroom's ventilation is not running very well. 2) In the room, the air conditioner outlet is dusty. I kindly suggest the hotel clean and maintain it more regularly to improve the hygiene of the room.

The room is quite small, and it’s a bit difficult for two people to open their suitcases at the same time — we had to take turns. Other than that, everything was very good. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. I had seen reviews mentioning ikura, but it wasn’t available during my stay, which was a little disappointing. Still, I was overall very impressed.

I stayed in a single room, so I can't speak for the other room types, but overall I had a very pleasant stay. The room itself is quite small, so if you're traveling with multiple large suitcases, it may feel cramped. For solo travelers, however, it's perfect for a short stay. The bed was surprisingly large and could comfortably fit two people. There was also enough space to store luggage under the bed, which helped keep the room organized. One of the highlights was the bathroom. It was spacious, with a separate toilet, shower, bathtub, and sink area, making it very convenient for getting ready. The room was also well-equipped with plenty of power outlets, USB ports, a charging cable, LAN cable, desk, kettle, tea, refrigerator, free Wi-Fi, and a large TV. The TV supports streaming services such as Netflix, so you can log in with your own account and watch during your stay. There were also slippers, pajamas, hangers, and a full-length mirror. Housekeeping was available daily, and extra towels could be requested if needed. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a city tax that must be paid at check-in. The amount depends on the length of your stay, but in my case it was 200 yen per night. Payment can be made by either credit card or cash, so it's a simple process. The only downside was the noise. My room faced the train tracks, and the trains were quite loud, especially if you're a light sleeper or like to go to bed early. If you plan to spend a lot of time relaxing in your room, this may be something to consider. Other than that, I was very satisfied with my stay. The lobby also has vending machines for soft drinks and beer, which was a nice bonus. Overall, I would recommend this hotel, especially for solo travelers looking for a convenient and comfortable place to stay.
