Amazing hotel - would highly recommend staying here.
We stayed at serenity resort for 2 nights on arriving at Koh Chang from Bangkok. The location is so so idyllic and relaxing, absolutely beautiful. We also stayed on the west side of the island for a couple of nights and while it is quieter on the east side of the island (ie, there is no point in leaving the resort in the evening as there is nothing really to do on the east side after dark) this is exactly what we were after.
The staff could not be more helpful and accommodating. Food and drinks at the restaurant were great and reasonably priced. Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Lovely view.
As other reviews have said, if you are staying here you will likely want your own transport so you can explore. We rented a moped from the resort at a very reasonable price. If you want to rent a car make sure you have an intl driving permit (takes a few mins to obtain but must do whilst in the UK). There’s barely any traffic on this side of the island so the drive down to long beach at the south of the island felt very safe on a moped despite the hills (and would be the same in a car). The resort staff recommended us to do this and then get kayaks over to Koh ngam, which we did and was a great experience!
The other option is to rent a taxi for a day (we were quoted c2500 baht for 6 hours) and they can drop you wherever you like and wait for you.

DDouyacaiThis hotel was a surprising and authentic find! The whole place has a classic Thai wooden style, and the rooms are huge with amazing sea views. Waking up to that view each morning was just wonderful…
While the decor is a bit older, the hotel facilities are very comprehensive. My favorite part was the huge balcony – perfect for comfortably zoning out. The breakfast was excellent, with different dishes every day, featuring fresh vegetables and fruits. What was really unexpected was the number of peacocks 🦚 strolling around the hotel grounds. They weren't afraid of people at all. To be honest, I was a bit scared of them myself; their calls were quite loud! Sometimes, two peacocks would even stand guard right outside my room, making it hard for me to get in. 🏡
The only inconvenience was that there are no supermarkets or restaurants around the hotel. You have to take the hotel's shuttle bus to get out. Once you reach White Sand Beach, you can shop or eat freely. It was a bit of a hassle, to be honest. The hotel's food was also a bit expensive and, more importantly, not very good. Since I stayed for many days, I ended up buying a lot of things from 7-Eleven to bring back to my room.
Service: Excellent, very friendly attitude.
Environment: I highly recommend the environment and the hotel's beach 🏖️ – it's perfect! If you're looking to just relax and not do any shopping, this place is definitely worth considering.

GGrizzieAbsolutely incredible hotel/resort, beautifully kept and it's own private beach with good sand. Close to everything if you rent a bike or if you get the island taxis anywhere for 50baht. Food in the restaurant is good though a little expensive

__WeChat8534****We were driving ourselves, so having a car was very convenient. It was about a 20-minute drive from where we disembarked. The hotel is very kid-friendly; the water park is excellent, and there are lifeguards specifically for safety. Our room was in a two-story building, so we had to carry our luggage up and down, but it was clean, hygienic, and relatively new. The facilities and amenities were also great. The staff were very friendly and always greeted us. The hotel has its own beach, which is nice, but the sea color wasn't ideal due to the rainy season. There are also plenty of dining options nearby, just a few minutes' drive away with many restaurants. A Seven Eleven is right outside the hotel. We would definitely choose to stay here again.

AAnonymous UserThe overall experience was alright, but the facilities need some care. The water park is old and some of the slides are breaking down, they don’t look safe. The hotel is divided in two areas, one across the road and one by the beach. If you are staying across the road you can’t use the pool from the beach side, which is a bummer and a big downside. Would check other places first.

GGuest UserWe had an unfortunate experience at the Centara Koh Chang Tropicana Resort. Upon returning to our room, we discovered that a chargeable can of soda was missing from the mini-fridge, along with three towels. Luckily, we noticed it in time and informed the front desk. Otherwise, it would have been difficult to clarify the situation during check-out. It would have caused a lot of trouble if they found missing items after we'd checked out, despite us stating we hadn't consumed anything. We later saw reviews for several other hotels where some guests had similar experiences. We were fortunate to have noticed it early and avoided being wrongly accused.
The garden rooms at Centara are very far from the beach. The beach itself is small, and the seabed is rocky and uncomfortable to walk on. The beach chairs are often fully occupied. The hotel's price-to-value ratio is very low and doesn't meet the expectations for a beach holiday. The mysteriously missing soda and towels only make us question the hotel's management and service quality even further.
If you absolutely must stay here, I strongly advise everyone to thoroughly check all chargeable items in your room upon arrival, preferably taking photos for confirmation. Also, take videos or photos when you check out. Always lock your luggage when you leave the room, and when you return, double-check that all chargeable items are still present to avoid any issues.

GGeorgеI booked two floors in two different villas. They contacted me in advance and warned me that one of them would be replaced, as the previous guests wanted to extend their stay. They upgraded my room to a larger apartment with a sea view, which I absolutely loved.
This was my first time at Koh Chang, so I give the experience a 5++. A personal, generous KHRAPP to Uncle Seryozha and his son Vladislav, and excellent, responsive service on site. The second room also lived up to all expectations, both in location and service.
We were initially skeptical about the breakfasts at 500 baht per person, but ultimately decided they were definitely worth it. A good buffet, organic coffee, and pastries.
There's also a small cafe nearby. We tried it—the food was good, but the administrator said that every table was often reserved (and obviously not fully occupied, giving the impression that either the adjacent villas were prioritized or that the staff were reluctant to open).
The grounds are gigantic, apparently encompassing several different resorts. It would be difficult to navigate these wonderfully landscaped grounds without a moped. The service staff helped us with this, and after check-in, they brought the scooter right to our rooms.
The beaches and beach bars (Shambala in particular) with their pools were absolutely delightful. Having driven around the island, I can say that one of the best beaches was right next to my room.
I'm posting views from the beach opposite Apartment 1128. I don't have any photos of the accommodations, only videos, so I'll try to cut them up and upload them later.

GGuest UserThis is a good 3-star hotel. The rooms are a bit run-down and need renovation, but it's clearly underway, with some rooms and areas already being worked on. Housekeeping was done almost every day (only missed a couple of times during our 12-night stay), but the cleaning itself was about a 4 out of 5; the wet cleaning could be done more often. On the first day, we were given a room on the 3rd floor of the main building, as requested. We were also pleasantly surprised with a wedding anniversary greeting. The balcony with a sea view was fantastic! However, the door to the balcony was translucent and faced almost directly onto a busy road. We ended up tracking traffic all night. The next day, they moved us to an inner building without any fuss. This room was pretty decent too, but construction workers started laying tiles outside our window at 8 AM… 😄. The room was a bit tired, and the air conditioning was noisy at night, but for the price, I think it was pretty good value. A new bar opened on Dec 22nd, but on Dec 23rd, our mood was soured when they tried to charge hotel guests 1000 baht. They eventually resolved the incident and apologized, but the situation with this new bar and pool remained a bit tense. Overall, it was a good stay.

HHUMINThe hotel did not include breakfast, the hotel looked very stylish, the room was okay, the location was good, there was a lot of food around, but the hotel room had mold and odor, and there was a serious mold odor when we entered the room. It's the same for both rooms, and then requesting another room is the same. The order cannot be cancelled, so it can only be sent for one night.
