"We had a wonderful two-night stay at Kakujoro and truly enjoyed the unique atmosphere of this beautiful historic ryokan. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming. We stayed in the maisonette-style room “Tsuyukusa,” which was very comfortable, and we were also greeted by Myu-chan, Kakujoro’s adorable and very friendly cat! The food was one of the highlights of our stay. On the first evening, we enjoyed the “Oitoji” kaiseki course featuring local Atsumi cuisine and seasonal fresh fish. On our second evening, we had a wonderful wild torafugu course. It was our first time eating fugu in summer, and we were surprised by how plump and delicious it was. We especially enjoyed experiencing the different preparations throughout the course. The onsen was also excellent. The water was pleasantly warm, making it very relaxing to soak for a long time after a day of sightseeing or golf. We also had an opportunity to tour both Kakujoro and Izutsuro and learn more about their history. The beautiful traditional architecture and atmosphere make the property feel very special. What impressed us most was the personal hospitality. Uemura-san and his team took very good care of us throughout our stay and made us feel genuinely welcome. Kakujoro is a wonderful place to experience Japanese history, local cuisine, onsen, and warm hospitality in the Atsumi Peninsula. We would definitely love to visit again!"

"This hotel is absolutely gorgeous! From the lobby and guest rooms to the views and facilities, the value for money is simply impeccable! Since I was traveling solo and had no language barriers, I used a combination of public transportation and hiking through farmland and up mountains. It was quite a journey, but the scenery along the way, especially the sudden appearance of the sea at the end, was incredibly refreshing! The hotel actually provides a free shuttle bus to and from the hotel. For pick-up, you need to contact them in advance (I didn't have experience with this). For drop-off/drop-off, you just need to book the night before. Why bother with public transportation?"
