"The hotel didn't provide any advance notice of the pier's operating hours, causing me to miss my boat trip. I booked a two-day hotel stay but could only stay one. The water was also dirty, and the beach was littered with trash and poorly maintained. It was a very unpleasant trip for me. I won't be back."

"We booked the hotel because Best Western Sapphire Hotel cancelled us at last minute with no reasonable excuses and the hotel is close to Van Don Intl Airport. It is fairly new hotel and not anywhere close to amenities. They have big plans for Ha Long Bay, but maybe in 5 years, this hotel will be popular. We were directed to a local cafe with local meals. It was great! Fried chicken!!! Then when we walked back to hotel, we asked for ice. Instead of 2 glasses, we received a pitcher of ice. The breaksfast was so nice. Wished they would asked how our eggs would be cooked though. We checked out and our taxi was waiting for us. Only took 10 minutes to arrive at Van Don International Airport."
