"Expected Much More for value but was disappointing Service We stayed at Lestos Hotel in Zakynthos as a family of four (2 adults and 2 children), paying around £2,800 for our stay. Overall, while there were some positive aspects, we felt that the experience did not fully reflect the price paid. The location is good and convenient, which is one of the hotel’s main strengths. However, we found that certain aspects of the service, facilities and staff approach did not align with the expectations set by the cost of our stay. The hotel’s promotional photos show rooms with private pools, which can give the impression that these are part of the Superior Room experience. Unfortunately, we discovered that Superior Rooms do not come with private pools. This was disappointing, as when paying a premium price for a Superior Room, you would reasonably expect to receive the amenities and facilities associated with that level of accommodation. The distinction between the different room categories could have been made much clearer. Although we had booked a Superior Room, we were also informed by staff that we could not use the pool beds. When we asked for clarification, the response we received felt unhelpful and, at times, rude. This was particularly disappointing as we were also spending around €70 on food and drinks by the pool, so we expected a more accommodating approach as paying guests. We were also disappointed to be charged extra for using the air conditioning in our room, despite having paid for a Superior Room that already included air conditioning. This felt like an unreasonable additional charge and further contributed to our feeling that we were not receiving good value for the substantial amount we had already paid. Another concern was the toilet arrangements. Guests are instructed not to flush toilet paper down the toilet and instead dispose of used toilet paper in a bin beside the toilet. We found this unhygienic and unpleasant, particularly for a hotel charging a premium price. This was certainly not what we expected from this level of accommodation. Another issue was being told to pay the government/tourist tax in cash rather than by card. After spending around £2,800 on the accommodation, we found it inconvenient that this additional charge could not simply be paid by card. Clearer communication about any mandatory additional charges before arrival would also have been appreciated. Given the overall cost of the holiday, we expected a much higher standard of hospitality, cleanliness, transparency, facilities and customer service. Unfortunately, the additional charges, limitations on facilities and attitude of some staff did not meet those expectations. In summary, while the hotel benefits from a good location, we felt that the overall value for money and level of service could be significantly improved. For £2,800, we expected considerably more from a Superior Room and a much better overall experience"

"Excellent position on the strip. Close to the beach and bars. No pool but we used the Letsos hotel pool which is just across a tiny road. We had the loft room which could sleep 6 but would be uncomfortable with 1 bathroom. One bedroom does have a slopped ceiling so you will bang your head every time you stand up at shorter end of the room. Kitchen could do with tea towels and cleaning cloth. Little things missing like bottle opener. Beds are comfortable. The balcony is great. Gets the sun all day. Never ate in the restaurant. "

"The best hotel in alykanas, we’ve stayed there a few times over the past couple of years. The owners are amazing, friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The rooms are lovely clean and modern. They are located in the centre of Alykanas, which was perfect for us, with a short walk to the beach. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else."

"Just back after a fabulous 2 week stay in Plessas Palace ,first time in Alykanas and will definitely be back ,can’t praise the friendly and accommodating staff enough ,made our stay so enjoyable ,lovely pool area in a beautiful setting ,close to all the bars and restaurants and only a 10 minute walk to beach ,great hotel bar with Greek night ,quiz night,bingo night and the all important pool table which kept our son occupied ,will order transport if needed for you for airport transfer or visit to Zante town etc look forward to returning in the future"

"I slept on a veranda created by expanding the ground-floor porch. An internal partition and thick awnings ensure privacy and open onto a splendid view. There are small imperfections, like a few broken tiles or older furniture, but the main things are fine: cleanliness, a comfortable mattress, and kind and helpful staff. If, like me, you're visiting during the warmer months, I recommend paying the small daily supplement for air conditioning. The location is magnificent for the beach, and right nearby you'll find a small restaurant, a beach bar, and an excellent traditional taverna... if you want to head downtown for shopping or nightlife, you'll need transportation (even just a bike) because it's a long 20-minute walk with bags. Recommended for the atmosphere and proximity to the beach. PS: The tap water is not drinkable on the island of Zakynthos, so be sure to buy at least a supply of water to keep in the refrigerator."
