"The female receptionist on duty was incredibly rude. My flight landed at 1:10 AM, and since there was nowhere to rest at the airport, I had no choice but to take a taxi to this hotel I had booked. My intention was: first, to see if I could pay extra to use an empty room for a few hours of rest before the official check-in time; second, if no room was available, I was willing to rest on the lobby sofa, leave my luggage at the hotel once it was bright, go out for a while, and then return for check-in at the designated time. The outcome was: after I explained my situation, this female staff member very impatiently said there were no empty rooms and that resting on the lobby sofa was absolutely not allowed. She told me I had to leave the lobby immediately, as it was hotel policy, and that I could only rest on the outdoor chairs outside the hotel entrance. No matter how much I pleaded, she refused and forcibly evicted me from the lobby. I was left stranded outside the hotel at 2:30 AM. After a brief walk around when it got light, I returned to the hotel lobby reception at around 12 PM. It was still the same staff member who had handled my previous encounter. She told me that checking in now would incur an additional US$50, because the hotel's official check-in time was between 2 PM and 8 PM. This was clearly an attempt to make things difficult for me, so I firmly refused. Seeing my resolute attitude, and with other guests starting to arrive for check-in, she reluctantly proceeded with my check-in. What I want to say now is: First, I don't know if this receptionist is the owner or an employee, but if she's the owner, she utterly lacks basic empathy, has such a poor character, and provides such terrible service. I question which guest would dare to stay at this hotel. Second, if this receptionist is an employee, it indicates serious problems with this hotel's education, management, and training. For an employee to treat a guest this way proves it's not an isolated incident, and what's even more frightening is that similar incidents could happen again. I ask, who would dare to stay at a hotel like this?!"

"It was a great stay for business, very close to everything and easy taxi rides to all else. The staff were exceptional in their hospitality and all things went well. Even arriving and departing at 4am on two Saturdays was not an issue. Highly recommended."

"Stayed 12 nights at Tanoa Apia and had a comfortable stay. The room was spacious, Breakfast was enjoyable, with a good selection including local Samoan dishes. For dinner, the chicken lemongrass and tuna bowl were excellent, while other options were average. Friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere made for a pleasant stay overall."

"Stayed three nights. Modern hotel located on the upper floor of a shopping mall, above a supermarket. Reasonably quiet location, although one morning I was awakened shortly after 06:00 by the noise of unloading activities for the nearby restaurant. About 10-15 min walk to town. My room was spacious and clean, with blackout curtains, well-placed power sockets, a well-lit desk area, and comfortable bed and pillows. Amenities included a mini-fridge (which didn’t cool much) and an electric kettle, though mine had a mismatched plug that didn’t fit the socket—promptly resolved with a power strip upon request. The A/C worked well. Spacious bathroom with everything in working order. Complimentary breakfast at the adjacent Chinese restaurant. A 3.5% credit card surcharge applies, though this was not mentioned in the listing or reservation. Friendly, pleasant staff. Overall a good value."

"Thank you to the staff for change my book due to my flight is changed for free. Almost, because they don’t answer here by trip.com and only after to call from other country I received the confirm for the change dates. The room: Only the sheets are clean. The rest were not clean. The bedside table is with the can imprint.. the rooms are on the parking so the noises is too high and wake up the guests every time one car get on. I hope the guardian is well and that his coughing and sneezing goes away quickly."

"On very rare occasions, I do book accommodation with shared bathrooms (in this case, separate men's and women's toilets with two showers in the same room, right next to the breakfast terrace) – but not for two nights! And definitely not in the tropics without air conditioning – I've obviously been downgraded. And that's quite deliberate deception, since you can only book with prepayment. At least I know for sure that I didn't book a fale (let's be real, that's also a case of false advertising; ultimately, it was a corrugated iron shack – see photo – and there was no dinner either). I injured myself several times on the sharp-edged corrugated iron roof with its highly questionable eaves height, and last night I got a deep scar because the path is poorly lit and you have to attach the "door"/straw curtain to the frame on the inside. Four weeks later, the scar only hurts when I press on it. It should have been stitched. But I also got the roof edge alarmingly close to my throat. The photos also show the deplorable condition of the stairs and landing. There's no privacy; you get a lock for a deposit, as there's a small box for valuables. Otherwise, you sleep in an unlocked room on a mattress on the floor. There's a light, a power outlet, and a fan. However, if you're never completely dry, you can't apply sunscreen. Very annoying and definitely a fire hazard."
