Romantik Hotel Säntis

"A superb hotel right on the main square in Appenzell city. A beautiful building, with traditional architecture. Our room was huge, with sofa and easy chairs, tables, etc. All the windows opened, which in the good weather was very pleasant. We had dinner and breakfast in our rooms via room service, and food was good. The staff speaks English (if that's important to you) and is cordial, professional and attentive. The bathroom was enormous, very up to date and clean. This was one of the finest hotel rooms we have ever stayed in, anywhere. Expensive, but high quality. It is a 10 minute walk from the train station, mostly through a car-free pedestrian zone."

Hotel Hecht Appenzell

"Older hotel with very modern bathroom. Byzantine hallways are confusing. Staff was nice. Room comfortable and clean, rather dated. View from room was of another old building, not attractive. Breakfast was ok. Location good in cute town."

Hotel Löwen

"The lady at the reception was very friendly. The rooms were excellent, as was the hotel's location. The only disappointment was the breakfast buffet. It started with the lack of greeting from the staff; you could tell them they didn't feel like working. The buffet was almost empty, and unfortunately, there were no fresh eggs. A shame considering the high price of breakfast."

Hotel Appenzell

"After our 6-day stay here we have concluded that this is probably the best-run hotel we have ever stayed at. The room was very comfortable, although some less soft pillows would have been appreciated. We noted the absence of a safe in the room, but felt it was probably not a necessity in this part of Switzerland, nor in this hotel, and we left some valuables in the room during the day quite happily. Everywhere is exceptionally clean (something that many hotel chains struggle to achieve these days!), and the staff are second to none - helpful, friendly, courteous at all times. We had breakfast and dinner here each day, and the food is superb. We will almost certainly return to Appenzell at some time and will automatically book a room at this hotel. A very big thank you to Stephan, Denise, and their staff for making our holiday so enjoyable."
