"We have been coming to the Southern Cross Motor Inn in Ararat for 2 years now and have never been disappointed with the quality of this accommodation. The rooms are bigger, the windows are double glazed so the rooms are quieter and they are always scrupulously clean. The operators of this motor inn are always looking to make small changes to make visitors more comfortable including, dare I mention it, the best quality toilet paper we have seen in a motel or hotel in a long time. The last time we stayed in October, we noticed they have now supplied non-slip mats to avoid older people like us slipping in the shower. We can thoroughly recommend this accommodation for its comfort and attention to detail. "

"It's little, a bit old-school, but then it's all about the basics... Clean and with sensible colours... A heater in the room that works, and it is Ararat in June. Yes, Victorian crisp bordering on frigid. BICKIES, coffee, tea and a microwave if needed. Wonderful welcome, great suggestions for local food, and a good rate for a room with both double and single. Starnet is better than my Hotpoint; I got my work done in a flash. Jumped into a comfortable bed as it was a long day.... discovered an electric blanket, yes, we see them all over, but truly justified in June - you forget how comfortable a night can be, rugged up. Great stay, I am pleased I stopped."

"Right next to the highway, so if you fall asleep to the sound of trucks flying by, this is the spot. Heard trucks still past midnight, and the first one woke me up at 5am, shocking. Staff were friendly and the place was clean at least. The room & bathroom were tiny and mine still didn't have this updated look (pictured in 2016!), so old brown decor."

"I had booked 2 rooms as a present for my sister in law and niece, I rang and made arrangements to pay the week before they were coming. But my niece is pregnant and having issues so it has been advice not to travel. I called to cancel the Boxing Day booking on the 16th December only to find out that the owner had gone behind my back, telling me it was booked through ******* after saying no many times to her. My daughter rang and got told it was booked with Wotif. Again we have received nothing. Owner was told card is canceled and if booking was not cancelled ( after her policy was read out ) then it would be taken to consumer affairs. Owner became abusive and yelling on phone. So please be wary when booking here."
