Ryokan Yumotosou ★★★★

"Everything was good, good location, good breakfast, good service. We were very comfortable staying here, onsen was also good"

Ryokan Hakusuiso

Ryokan Hakusuiso ★★

📍 4217 Shimojo, Oguni

"Last year I visited with my father, and this year I came to Baeksujang with my daughter. The interior is old, but it has a unique old Japanese smell. The meals were prepared with care as packed lunches, and the hot springs were especially great. The water was really great. I plan to come again next year."

Fumoto Ryokan
9.3 (258 reviews)

Fumoto Ryokan ★★★★

📍 6697 Manganji, Aso District, Minamioguni

"We had a fabulous time in this ryokan. It was ideally located along the street where you can find restaurants, cafes and shops. Opposite the ryokan is a popular coffee and pastry shop. The ryokan itself has 9 private baths along with an open air segregated male/ female baths. So much so we didn't have time or a need to try the other onsens. The breakfast and dinner were also delicious and satisfying we had a relaxing time there..."

Miyama Sansou

Miyama Sansou ★★★

📍 6393 Manganji, Minamioguni

"What I loved -The room is HUGE! It has a balcony, living room, bedroom, private onsen, big bath area, and a separate toilet. Plenty of space to relax. -The private onsen in the room was definitely the highlight. You can enjoy it anytime without worrying about other people. -You can also use the public onsen in the hotel and another public onsen just next door, both within walking distance. -The bed was super comfortable. Had a really good night's sleep. -Breakfast and dinner were traditional Japanese cuisine. It may not suit everyone's taste, but I personally enjoyed the authentic experience. What could be better -Parking spaces near the room are limited. However, the hotel staff will help transport your luggage, so you just need to wait a while. -The hotel is a little far from the onsen street, so it's not the most convenient if you plan to walk there often. -The yukata provided wasn't very nice-looking. It was comfortable, but not something I wanted to wear for photos."

Yusai Bekkan

Yusai Bekkan ★★★

📍 6561-1 Manganji, Aso District, Kumamoto, Minamioguni

"This traditional hotel has basic room facilities for us two. Coffee and tea and cup of noodles and toiletries provided for use in the onsen. We were able to enjoy our meals in the adjoining bigger Yusai hotel and their bigger onsen. Dinner and breakfast at the adjoining bigger hotel was sumptuous. Worth it."

ASO CANYON TERRACE & LODGE
9.1 (40 reviews)

ASO CANYON TERRACE & LODGE ★★★

📍 4369-19 Kawayō, Minamiaso

"Good sunset view from the room and its icon swing. Good service and hot spa. Good location for visiting Mount Aso and 20 minutes drive to the top. The only downside is the food service that we cannot order any breakfast and dinner within 3 days ahead which is quite ridiculous. The location is far from any restaurants and need to drive at least 15 minutes to Ozu city for food."

Yama No Yado Shinmeikan

Yama No Yado Shinmeikan ★★★

📍 Manganji 6608, Minamioguni

"A wonderful place to relax. In the heart of a charming little town. The staff is friendly and attentive. Dinner and breakfast were plentiful and of good quality. Our best hotel in Japan. A perfect stay. They were very thoughtful and attentive. Thank you so much!"

Kurokawa Onsen Ryokan Ichinoi

Kurokawa Onsen Ryokan Ichinoi ★★★

📍 6630ー1 Manganji, Minamioguni

"What a surprise, a special car pick-up at the bus station🚏, one night and two meals are great! The girl from Zhejiang is beautiful, enthusiastic, and thoughtful. She introduced us to delicious cakes and Dorayaki in the surrounding area. The entrance of the hotel is the starting point for hiking. If you have time, you can go for a walk. There will definitely be unexpected gains! The hot springs are also great. Kurokawa Hot Spring Town is worth visiting again! Unforgettable🥰"

"This is a large ryokan located around Kurokawa Onsen, with a main building and an annex. This time, we booked a room in the annex, which was very spacious and even had a loft. There were two private onsen baths right in the room, and another one just outside the room. The experience was absolutely incredible."

"The experience was excellent! First, the service was impeccable. When we arrived at Kurokawa Station, our local SIM card didn't have a number, so we couldn't make calls. We found a gas station and asked a local to help us call the hotel. The hotel immediately sent a car to pick us up in 5 minutes. Upon arrival, they even carried our luggage directly to our room on the second floor. All the staff greeted us with a bow. When we left, the hotel also provided a special car to take us to the station. This kind of pick-up and drop-off service made us feel very safe. Second, the room was larger than most Japanese hotel rooms, with a bed and tatami mats. The decor was stylish, with a separate wet and dry area. The entire hotel's decor was very Japanese. Third, the onsen (hot spring) was excellent, with both indoor and outdoor baths. We were told there were seven different types of spring water, no wonder it's a favorite spot for locals. Fourth, we ordered breakfast, which was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The breakfast changed daily, the ingredients were fresh, and many ingredients were prepared by the owner himself. Highly recommended! Fifth: One of the waitresses was a young lady from Shanghai surnamed Li. She was very patient in explaining and helping us with any problems we encountered. Thumbs up for her service! 👍🏻 In short, during our time in Kurokawa, in addition to breathing the fresh mountain air, seeing the rustic wooden Japanese architecture, and soaking in the relaxing mountain hot springs, we also experienced warm service. We will definitely come back next time we have the chance!"

"Had a fantastic experience! The private onsen on the third floor is very spacious, perfect for friends or families. I even managed to snap a few photos of the surroundings when no one was around. The public bath here is also very comfortable and not crowded at all. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, and it was super convenient to have several Chinese-speaking employees. One of the ladies was always smiling and just adorable!"

"This hotel is located in Aso district, up the mountain. Preferably to drive. Parking is complimentary. The room is spacious, with a living room and bathroom. Went for the onsen for hotel guests. It has indoor and outdoor onsen pools. I included 2 meals for my stay, breakfast and dinner. Worth the try for the buffet breakfast and dinner."

"The hotel is conveniently located near a bus stop. The rooms are spacious and come with a private toilet and sink. Guests are provided with yukata, socks, toothbrushes, and combs, and even instant noodles await them in their rooms. The hotel also features communal baths, separated for men and women. In front of the building, there's a hot foot bath. Just a five-minute walk away is the main building, where guests of this hotel can access another public bath. On the first floor, there's a hot water dispenser, tea, and coffee available. We were allowed to leave our luggage before check-in. The only downside is the lack of an elevator; it can be tough to climb the steep stairs with heavy suitcases."

"The Nepalese guy at the front desk is very lively. It is located in the center of Kurokawa. It was booked for the cave hot spring. It is very special. Although the room is old and the dinner is average, the location and scenery are excellent. The room faces the river and the bridge. Many tourists come back to this bridge to take pictures during the day. The private hot spring is also good. The price-performance ratio is also acceptable. If you don't want to walk too far, you can consider this one"

"The public baths are very good, the outdoor scenery is beautiful, and the indoor spring water is hot enough The only trouble is that there is no bathroom in the room. If you want to take a shower, you have to go to the bathtub. Excellent breakfast, Japanese Kaiseki cuisine👍🏽"
