Fischers Baslow Hall - Chatsworth
9.3 (40 reviews)

Fischers Baslow Hall - Chatsworth ★★★★

📍 Calver Rd, Bakewell, Baslow

"The hotel is located 10 minutes drive from Darcy Manor. The building is a century-old building on a hillside. The building itself and its garden are amazing. The garden room we booked is in the annex building. The room is large in size and the view from the window is pleasant. The staff is serious and responsible, the attitude is kind, and the service awareness is strong. The hotel restaurant has won Michelin in 2021. The dining environment is beautiful. The price of three dishes for dinner is 80 yuan per person. The taste is good and the plate does meet the Michelin standard. In short, our only regret is to stay for one night. Special recommendation to everyone wall crack, garden beauty map is attached."

CBH The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow

CBH The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow ★★★★

📍 Church Ln, Baslow

"Natural Scenery: The rooms are small but have a classic British feel, and the lobby even has old-fashioned charcoal heating and ventilation. The food is worth mentioning; although British cuisine is often overlooked, this place is excellent. Reservations are required, and patience is advised. We tried the fried chicken cutlet, vegetarian sandwiches, soup, and desserts, all of which were surprisingly delicious. The hotel is within walking distance of Darcy Manor, but it's a fairly long 30-minute walk. We even encountered two herds of deer. One advantage of staying at this hotel is that you can purchase a single ticket during your stay for unlimited visits to Darcy Manor. It's a bit of a leg workout, but a must-try for those who love nature and classic British style."

📍 Netherends, Baslow and Bubnell

"It is close to Darcy Manor, but there is really nothing nearby. There are mosquitoes in the room upstairs, soundproofing is average, and the space is not large. After all, it belongs to the countryside, and the price is not high in terms of space."

📍 71 High St, Sheffield

"The hotel is closeish to the station and was close to where I was working for a few days. It's in the city center with a tram stop a very short walk away. The reception looks bright, but they have an expensive coffee machine there, which I soon learnt meant I didn't have a kettle in my room. Check in was quick, friendly and simple. I had booked for two, ended up on my own. I got to my room and immediately noticed it was tiny with no desk, just a small path around the bed and a small bathroom. For the price paid, I expected a normal hotel experience. When I used the bathroom, I noticed a long hair in the sink, which washed away with the slightest trickle when I started washing my hands which told me it hadn't been cleaned. That made me then look at the floor and noticed that hadn't been swept, either."

"Very nice trip, service good, location is excellent and close to the moor street. If you want to go for a dinner or a pub for drink, you only have to walk for 5 to 10 mins!"

CBH The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow ★★★★
"We have stayed at The Cavendish many times, but our recent stay was disappointing. Although in a beautiful location with easy access both on foot or by car to Chatsworth, the hotel standards need improvement and have certainly deteriorated since our Christmas visit. We have never stayed in a hotel where some Receptionists do not say anything when you enter or leave the building. 'Good morning/evening' would have been more favourable than just sitting there, even a smile would have sufficed. They are the first point of contact with the hotel and should make more effort to engage with residents at all times. Our room had a great view, but the bathroom was cramped and the only place to do hair and makeup was a long mirror hidden in a cupboard. Surely a room of this price could manage a Cheval mirror near a socket! And then there is the food. Breakfast is good, friendly professional staff and food served promptly, hot and until noon. Dinner is another story. Neither restaurant has a nutritionally balance choice for vegetarian/vegans, please add protein, beans, peas, nuts etc in amounts equivalent to meat or fish. The Gallery restaurant is expensive, small portions served warm after a very very very long wait. We nearly gave up and went elsewhere. The Sommelier has a loud voice, a very loud voice. He takes great delight in telling guests incredible details about the wine almost as if he's learnt them by rote. At the end of his delivery there is a pause, as if he expects the room he has silenced should clap! Any atmosphere in the dining room is destroyed while guests wait for his next 'performance' The Garden Room is beautiful but has a limited menu. Staff frequently forgot to bring things we had asked for, and the food was unexciting when it did eventually arrive. The food at The Pilsley Inn is much better, a different experience, less expensive, generous portions, and a quieter atmosphere. It's a car ride away but well worth the effort. And where is the Hotel Manager or any Senior staff at The Cavendish? They certainly weren't evident during our stay. The comments we passed on we were told 'would be fed back'. Sometimes it's better to speak to Management directly. Breaks on the Chatsworth estate have always been something to look forward to, but there are other places to stay in the area and for our next visit we'll try one of those."

"Stayed for 2 nights at The Moon Inn. The staff were lovely, couldn't have asked for better service. Had a problem with our room on the first night, but received an apology and we were upgraded to a better room on the second night. We are in the bar both nights. The food was good and well priced. Nice ambience."

The Hide at Chatsworth ★★★
"The hotel is located on the road leading out of town near Chatsworth Estate, making it suitable for travelers with cars. We checked in the previous night and enjoyed a delicious dinner in the hotel lobby; the steak was especially recommended! 👍🏻 The hotel rooms were standard, parking was free, and it's only a 12-minute drive to the estate, which is very convenient. Overall, it was a good hotel."

"Wouldn’t stay here again. The rooms are very Spartan (prison cell like) but clean to be fair. I don’t mind basic but usually the price reflects this. Not here."
