"Sumal Villa is an amazing calm place with very comfortable rooms (either AC oder Fan). We slept very well. It‘s run by a very kind and helpful family. The older lady told us a lot about the history of Sri Lanka, their religion, the situation of the village during corona and the tsunami 2004. We just arrived in Sri Lanka and got to know the people and the country so much better through this kind and interesting conversation. "An Ayurvedic experiment for me. The pool and grounds are fantastic. But my room is basic and the food is average, not typical Sri Lanka. The treatments are way too oily for me. Prior to booking, I checked that I could have accommodation on the top floor as I hate hearing noise from above. I was assured that would be the case, so I booked; it’s a real issue for me so I was irritated when I had a middle floor room. It’s a great location, easy to escape from by train; I did so today to Galle! I guess I’m not a typical client as I’m not buying in to the philosophy! But I do love the peace & tranquility of the hotel."
