"This was our first time staying at the Havenhostel, and we stayed for one night. Our double room was wonderfully spacious and, most importantly, spotless! The entire building, both inside and out, appeared very clean and well-maintained. The large and, crucially, *free* parking lot was a huge bonus! The staff were incredibly friendly! Unfortunately, the lift was broken, and we couldn't carry all our luggage up to the 3rd floor. However, we were able to store them in the luggage room at the front desk, which was a great help. We didn't have breakfast. Overall, we were very happy and would gladly return! :)"

"Basically, I have been happy with the Nordsee Hotel so far. I booked it primarily because of the gym next door, which is included in the price. Overall, the hotel is showing its age. I couldn't really sleep on the first and second night of my last stay because the window was completely leaky and there was a loud draft. When I asked the next day, I was told that the caretaker couldn't do anything, they were just old windows. I was moved to another room. My girlfriend slept in the hotel on the last night, one of two, and had breakfast with us. Now I had to pay an extra charge because I didn't book it. OK, I said, let's offset my 7-day stay in January against that... I paid for seven days and seven breakfasts and was alone. That wouldn't work and I would have to prove that I was alone. The employee in January, I can't remember exactly who, told me that I could say that on the next stay and then offset it. Maybe he just didn't feel like rebooking at the time. Of course I could have said it straight away, but I forgot about it. Now the employee is starting to address me informally and I have to pay for it. I said I don't have to do anything... Then she called her boss... He confirmed that I had to prove that I was alone in January... I think it's a disgrace to treat guests like that. Of course a company should think economically, but can't the hotel accommodate the guest? Why was the guest accused of lying by saying that she could prove that she was alone? I'm excited; they're going to get in touch with me tomorrow."

"Be aware the hotel has a main building and a second guest house about 10 mins away. Having a booking "in the main building" doesnt guarantee that's where you'll be, as I found out. If you arrive after 6 pm , let them know so they can leave a key in a dropbox along with directions in German, that google translate couldn't. The key to the front door of the guest house didnt work, so at 8pm there was no one to call to try and gain entry. I found a side door that fortunately worked. The room had nothing, no kettle, no coffee maker, no iron or ironing board. Which when the main hotel is 10 mins away is unacceptable. Breakfast 8am-10am , again 10 mins away in another building and of no use whatsoever to anyone who's there for work and gets up at 6am. The room and bedding were clean, I'll give them that, but everything is tired, worn, old,faded. The room was not somewhere I actally wanted to be in , let alone come back to after working all day. It felt more like a cheap hostel. I don't expect this standard in a western European country. Awful."
