"This cosy hotel was perfect for us on a recent walking holiday. Our room had a splendid view of the mountains and was clean and comfortable. Food at dinner was fabulous, interesting, varied and good quality, way above our expectations. Breakfast was excellent too, good buffet choices but eggs & omelettes etc to order as well. Hotel happy to cater for dietary restrictions. All staff without exception were friendly and efficient. Good, small bar with delightful outside seating. Great base for walking/hiking and just a 5 min walk into town where there are a handful of good places for meals (if you fancy a change from the hotel) plus shops for this and that."

"The hotel is in a good location not too far from Arenas and has free parking so no worries about finding a parking spot. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is quite big. What really made me appreciate the stay was the small details, the branded bathroom products from Rituals, the welcoming tray with filtered water, coffee machine. This hotel is better than some 4 star hotels and seems to be under good management. What I would suggest is getting a better wifi to not disconnect you every 40 minutes. A trash bin in the room with a trash bag. A kettle to make tea."

"We needed to spend the night for family reasons but we were fascinated by the entire region that, although we already knew, had always been a quick pass. La Cortina is in a village with easy access via a paved road. We almost did a self-check-in because the owner was not there and on the phone he told us where to pick up the key and what the room was. Silence reigned, he recommended that we go to Arenas de Cabrales for dinner, beautiful and bustling. Back again silence, we thought we were alone. In the morning when we went down to breakfast we couldn't believe how many people had spent the night in the house, several families but all respectful of the environment, there were even children. Highly recommended option to stay in the area. A discovery."

"Staff were unfriendly. Room extremely basic with inadequate storage space. Bed uncomfortable. No fridge or water provided. Room dirty around edges and bathroom smelt unpleasant. Extremely hot and noisy (road and other guests). I was also eaten alive by mosquitoes and other bugs. Breakfast is farcical - read the other reviews. I would advise people not to stay here despite the good location. "
