Sunset Paradise Villas ★★★

"Sunset Paradise Villas was great for our vacation – but it may not be for everyone. This is not a luxury accommodation. But the location is priceless. We had a wonderful stay there but there are several things I wish I would have known before I booked. The pros: Working with Griselle was great! She was very responsive and took care of our requests – more towels, maintenance issues, etc. She was really lovely to deal with. The location of the villa is fantastic. It is located at the edge of downtown Rincon – close enough to walk to but far enough to be out of the hustle of the town. We felt very safe walking in Rincon and to and from the villas. Our villa, Alma, had the BEST outdoor space! It was a huge covered patio that looked out to the ocean. Very spacious seating area and dining area. I can’t say enough great things about it – it was a dream! This outdoor space is where we stayed when we were at the villa!! The patio had stairs that led directly to the beach – or should I say ocean. There wasn’t much beach as the water came up right to the patio wall! The water off the villa was so wonderful to swim in – nice waves, but not overwhelming. Excellent snorkeling and kayaking. It was fantastic! We also had access to the top level patio which was again very spacious – it had several lounge chairs and a pergola to block the sun in one section but otherwise wide open. There was also a hot tub on the top patio. I was impressed with how clean the villa was also. Beds were comfy and towels were plentiful. The cons: The villa is dated. The kitchen especially needed some attention. Several cupboard doors were either missing entirely or not attached correctly. The dishwasher was basically unusable – it was not attached to the under-counter at all so that when the door was open, the entire unit would tip out. There were only a couple wine glasses (!). The cookware, flatware, and place settings need to be replaced. The set up of the bedrooms was very odd as well. Two of the bedrooms are off the patio but are separate from the rest of the villa. So, when the villa was locked, the residents of those bedrooms would be locked out of the villa. We figured out a work-around, but we were really surprised by the configuration. The hot tub was not usable as the heater was broken. (However, mgmt. offered us kayaks to use for the duration of the stay to make up for the inconvenience.) The steps leading to the upper patio are steep. One person in our group was very uncomfortable making the climb. The internet is fine in the villa but doesn’t extend to the outside space at all. The pool is very small – maybe to be used for cooling off – not big enough to swim. There were several floor tiles missing on the upper patio – again, it just feels are though it needs some TLC. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Sunset Paradise Villas because of the location to the beach and Rincon, but not necessarily the accommodations."
