The Countryman Hotel ★★★

"Arriving passed the 7pm check in time, I greeted and welcomed into the hotel by the proprietor who had kindly waited for my arrival. The room is comfortably furnished, well decorated and of a high standard. The bed was beyond comfortable.... Sufficient tea, coffee and milk were available in the room to be enjoyed. Once settled into my room, I took advantage of a piping hot shower in a shared bathroom just along the corridor. Breakfast is served in the pleasantly decorated breakfast room where you are allocated your table. On choosing coffee, I was served with a whole coffee pot of filtered coffee which was greatly appreciated as one cup in the morning is never enough! Take Note 5 * hotels) A full English breakfast soon arrived, accompanied by toast of your choice...I can't get English breakfast in Vietnam so this was a real treat...is it rude to lick the plate? Further toast was supplied so I could once again enjoy the taste of good old marmite!! Breakfast is leisurely, with all guest breakfast requests accommodated for will minimal fuss. During the short wait for breakfast to arrive, it was a pleasure to engage with the other guests who where also enjoying their stay... I lived in Cornwall for many years however, access to Cornwall's North Coast attractions are all but a short drive from the Countryman Hotel so, a visit to Tintagel is a must. Big thank you to the proprietors for their hard work and effort in making it a pleasurable stay."

"Lovely, warm friendly hotel. Stayed there with friends on a leisure trip and found the rooms to be comfortable and well appointed, the bar well stocked, and the food superb. We only met the owners, so I suspect they were on a limited staff level, but you wouldn’t have noticed otherwise as the service was excellent. The evening three course meal was delicious, and the chef very proud of their cooking with everything seemingly sourced locally, and this extended to the bar and rooms where as many of the drinks etc. were Cornish. Well worth the visit."
