Hotel Meira

Hotel Meira ★★★★

📍 R. 5 de Outubro 56, Vila Praia de Ancora

"Our family stayed in the Meira hotel just for one night on out Camino trip. The hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean with everything we needed. Additionally, we needed to depart early in the morning at 6.00 am and the hotel staff was so kind that they have prepared a breakfast package for us and the receptionist gave us the package during our morning check-out. The hotel is in the town centre and 5 minutes walk from the beach and beach road full of restaurants. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy all the hotel facilities due to very short stay."

Quinta da Quinhas

Quinta da Quinhas ★★

📍 R. de Bulhente 88, Vila Praia de Ancora

"Beautiful little farmhouse, in the mountains, very sweetly decorated, very peaceful, warm and friendly atmosphere. Annabel who worked at the front was very helpful and showed us everything. Kitchen open for us to use and cook. Breakfast in the morning was included and had everything--eggs (you had to make them but all pots/pans there), cheeses, meats, fruit, bread. It is a bit away from the main city but worth staying here. Something different."

Prazer da Natureza Resort & Spa
8.7 (30 reviews)

Prazer da Natureza Resort & Spa ★★★★

📍 Estr. do Funchal 989, Vilar de Mouros

"An excellent family friendly hotel. The 2 bedroom villa is well equipped our whole family (2 adults and 2 children). The pool and playground was very popular and it is a nice peaceful hotel surrounded in lots of nature. It is situated very close to the beach and also Caminha so there are lots of things to do. I would highly recommend!"

Albergaria Quim Barreiros
8.5 (29 reviews)

Albergaria Quim Barreiros ★★★

📍 Av. Dr. Ramos Pereira 115, Vila Praia de Ancora

"I arrived very early. Early October and it was predicted to be 30C at midday so I woke up very early and walked hard the 20km to arrive before the real heat of the day. The receptionist was amazing. She arranged for an early check in at 11.30 and couldn’t have been nicer. Whilst the room is a little tired ( it’s the first photo in the list here with the twin beds and the fishing boat painting above the beds). It’s not an expensive hotel but the reception, lift etc all look in good condition. The lobby and common areas were cool, however I couldn’t seem to get the a/c to work in the room The receptionist was extremely helpful but apparently the building is on one system and nothing can be done to make my room cooler. I would like to praise the hotel for its cleanliness, the helpfulness of the staff, etc. but it seems to me that 30C isn’t very hot for the Portuguese summer. This isn’t the summer, so before you stay here I strongly suggest you check out if the a/c has been improved."

Rinoterra Minho

Rinoterra Minho ★★★★

📍 R. da Costa 15, Seixas

"My husband Giles and I took a six day cycling holiday in Northern Portugal that we’d booked and arranged via Inntravel (they are a British company who specialise in walking and cycling holidays). We stayed at three different hotels (each one for two days) and Rinoterra was the last on our travels - and wow did they save the best for last! Rinoterra is set in a small quiet street away from all the hustle and bustle and is just a total oasis of peace, quiet, calm, relaxation and comfort. We’d cycled about 20 miles to reach Rinoterra - the final ascent had been quite steep - so it was a joy to be greeted by Liliana our hostess with such enthusiasm and warmth! She was super friendly and efficient and took the time to explain all the amenities to us (the new spa, indoor pool and relaxation rooms are spectacular!) and we had a wonderful big room with great views across the Rio Minho to the mountains of Northern Spain. Anna, the wonderful chef prepares and serves OUTSTANDING meals! If you’ve got a hearty appetite you will not be disappointed! She was so accommodating as well for me because I’m pescatarian and only eat tiny portions and she made sure that I was really well fed with little portions that were perfectly presented and utterly delicious! There’s a beautiful cosy atmosphere about all the parts of the old house and we were able to just relax and soak up the surroundings after a half day cycling followed by an hour or so in the pool and spa. The whole place is spotlessly clean and ALL the staff were super friendly and helpful. If I win the lottery I am moving in!"

"Such a unique and period stay, stunning river views, amazing walks nearby and so many market towns and villages nearby with the beach a stone’s throw away by car. Would definitely repeat."

Hotel Porta do Sol Conference & Spa ★★★★
"The location is good. The service at reception is poor, slow, not very friendly. We stayed in the premium suite, room 120. For a couple they only put a bottle of water, we went to the reception to ask and the reception told us to ask for it in the restaurant, in the restaurant they didn't give us water for the room. In conclusion, we had to go to the bar and spend €4 on two small bottles of water. It's a pain to book a room for 240 euros a night and they don't even add water. The spa, we entered at 4:30 but at 5 pm we were asked to leave, just surreal!!!! Breakfast without much variety! The room was clean but there was not always hot water to take a shower. Conclusion, the first time I come to Portugal with my Chinese wife and the reception here in Caminha was like this. It was the first and last time at this hotel."

"It was one of my overnight stays on the Camino de Santiago. Such a beautiful property. Cared for by very friendly and kind people. Comfortable beds with linens. Clean showers and toilets. A delicious breakfast and tea in the hammock overlooking the garden. And a really sweet family of donkeys to top it all off. It's a shame I had to move on. I would have loved to stay longer."

"We enjoyed very much our stay at Albergaria Quim Barreiros, Vila Praia de Âncora, despite the rainy season in November. The suite was comfortable and spacious, clean, with a balcony and sea view. It’s perfect place to relax off season. Natalina, the manager, was very friendly and helpful providing any kind of information to us."

"Great hotel with amazing views over the Duoro and into Spain with great sunsets. A very warm welcome and tour of the hotel, pools and spa. The bedroom in the main building was large with doors opening onto a private garden terrace. The meals were all freshly prepared and locally sourced by Anna who also baked the fresh cakes for afternoon tea. I thoroughly recommend the hotel and hope to stay again if in the area. "
