La Villa Bleue-Sidi Bou Said
8.3 (56 reviews)

La Villa Bleue-Sidi Bou Said ★★★★★

📍 68 rue Kennedy, Sidi Bou Said

"Overall: Not recommended. Room: The layout and facilities are not necessarily suitable for Chinese people. Basically, you have to sleep in various pillars, like a **. The bathroom requires stairs to the corner room. The facilities are simple, and there is no place to open the washbasin. The wifi is relatively poor, and there will be no signal at all. Price: The price of more than 1,000 should be the price of the layered contract. The actual price given by the store to the supplier is 600. It feels that Ctrip booking is expensive. Service: The waiter’s English is relatively poor. It is difficult to communicate. It takes anger or serious communication to move forward. It is better to stay in a regular hotel or a very cheap B&B when traveling to a small place. There is no need to stay in a B&B at the price of a five-star hotel."

Maison Dedine - Adults Only ★★★★

📍 3, Rue Kennedy, Carthage

"We feel so fortunate to have stayed at Maison Dedine. Rare is the establishment that tops one's lists in almost every category. The photographs attached to these reviews do not do justice to the Maison's beauty. Its location is perfect, its layout is superb, its food is a delicious mix of home-grown vegetables and herbs, traditonal Tunisian delicacies, and French specialities. But it is the staff at Maison Dedine who make the difference. They make you feel like long-missed friends, helpful in every way, and elevate this establishment to one of the very best hotels or inns in which I have had the pleasure to reside. Americans need not worry; the staff is perfectly trilingual (French, Arabic, and English). Truly this must be the best place to reside in or about Tunis, perhaps the entire country - maybe Africa or the world!"

Dar Fatma
8.5 (42 reviews)

Dar Fatma ★★★★

📍 1 Rue Sidi, Sidi Bou Said

"The great reviews for this hotel are a mystery as they contain multiple inaccuracies. the maintenance Is VERY poor. tAKke a look at the photos I have added. Deeply stained mattress, air conditioner poised to fall off wall, cracked tiles that slide and trip, dark stains on bedroom chair, birds above breakfast courtyard that we saw defecate on to tables, construction zone outside hotel. NOTE:ONLY A COUPLE OF ROOMS HAVE SEA VIEW and even these are weak in comparison to other local hotels like Villa Blue or Dar Elyssa. The one offerd to us was over the graveyard. Access to hotel is uphill over cobblestone stairs. No porter was available to help so people with mobility issues (or much luggage) be warned. The "pool" is 9x9 ft and 19 inches deep. Unheated. The sheets and towels are rough . The stair cases are narrow And there are many extremely low doorways and arches. On check in at 4pm there was only one employee there. A very nice young man but he had no English or authority. They wanted payment at checkin but there card machine couldnt connect. He had to call some offsite woman manager who yelled at him and he literally was sent to our room every 30 minutes to try again UNTIL 10:30pm AT NIGHT. The paranoia that they wouldnt get paid was ludicrous and we were asked to spend well other an hour making a dozen obviously futile attempts to deal with their tech issues until late at night. The morning guy of course fixed the problem in a few minutes. Plus side. Breakfast was good albeit you need to watch for the birds. The terrace is beautiful (but that is common in Sidi bou Said) I use TripAdvisor extensively and with so many far better properties in Sidi Bou Said I remain puzzled why such a bad hotel does well. Again, pls look at my pictures and go expedia/booking.com/etc and see the broader options there. What ever you do, dont choose Dar Fatma."

📍 01 Impasse Sidi Chabaane, Sidi Bou Said

"The location is in the center of Laobai Town. It would be great if the guidance service could be better. The hotel faces the ocean and you can see the endless sea as soon as you go out. It is very beautiful."

Maison d'Hôtes Dar Ennassim

Maison d'Hôtes Dar Ennassim ★★★★

📍 4 Rue du Bigaradier, Carthage

"I’ve come to Tunisia for more than a decade and stayed in a hotels across Lac I, downtown and La Marsa. La Marsa is my preference – easy and safe to walk around when I travel alone, many different restaurants and shops nearby, and yet still not too far from anywhere I need to get to for work… When my usual hotel turned out to be full, I recalled someone mentioning Dar Ennassim and decided to try it. Glad I did because now I have another wonderful option in La Marsa! The whole building is a labor of love – two old houses that the family renovated every inch of over years and now runs together. It’s a charming and quirky, but clean and well run, labyrinth of stairs (if you have mobility problems, this may not be your place), guest rooms and spaces for eating and lounging, full of art, including many paintings by the host’s mother, Sonia. When the weather is good, the breakfast terrace has an outstanding view, and the breakfast is homemade and to order. Each room is different. The price for a stay is incredibly reasonable, and the host, Taieb, was always available in person or on WhatsApp if I had a question. The street quiets down quickly at night. (There is a mosque next door, but I'm used to that, personally, and don't wake after the first day or so. And obviously, if you're someone who gets up for Fajr prayers, then it's no issue!). From a business trip perspective, I would say that it worked well, although it certainly depends on your preferences. Internet was generally strong, although had some blind spots. Both the hotel and La Marsa itself have plenty of spaces to get work done or set up a meeting. As you would expect, though, this is not an anonymous experience. You see the hosts in the morning at breakfast, and it’s the kind of place where it’s not uncommon to fall into conversation with both guests and hosts. There are no meals other than breakfast (but there are two great café/restaurants literally across the street, and dozens of options in the overall area). So it just depends on what you want/need for your trip. I personally loved it and am sure to return! "

Dar El Kif - la Marsa ★★★

📍 18 Rue du 2 mars 1934, Marsa, Carthage

"Very pleasant hotel and the service is friendly and accommodating. Extensive breakfast. The rooms are tastefully decorated. Very nice courtyard. There are many small restaurants nearby. We stayed there for two nights. At the beginning and end of our Sahara tour, then we went back on the ferry. The hotel is well suited for that too."

La Villa Bleue-Sidi Bou Said ★★★★★
"1. Hotel view: The hotel is located on an elevated area in Sidi Bou Said, offering a clear and beautiful view of the sea. However, it does not offer views of the Sidi Bou Said village itself. 2. Accessibility: The hotel is within walking distance for exploring Sidi Bou Said at a relaxed pace, and a sea viewpoint is located directly in front of the property. However, it is not close to areas with regular taxi traffic, making it difficult to request a taxi via ride-hailing apps. After getting off a taxi, guests must walk approximately 7–8 minutes on a gravel road, which is inconvenient when pulling luggage. 3. Cleanliness: The room and common areas were very clean, and housekeeping standards were high. 4. Breakfast: On the first morning, we were only asked to choose between coffee or tea. No options were offered regarding the style of eggs or type of juice, and items were brought without explanation. On the second day, after we proactively specified our preference for an omelet and juice type in advance, the breakfast was served accordingly. Omelet and Strawberry juice was great. 5. Guest service and responsiveness: On the first day, the bathtub in the room did not drain properly, making it impossible to take a shower. Access to alternative shower facilities within the hotel was refused. A repair was promised, and the issue was eventually fixed when we returned to the room the following afternoon. Additionally, there was a significant ant problem in the room. Staff sprayed insecticide, but no apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience was offered. On the second evening, the floor above the room (used as the breakfast area) hosted a large group, and loud noise from chairs and conversations continued until approximately 10:30 PM. There was no prior notice or communication from the hotel regarding this. <To the Manager of La Villa Bleue> I would like to share additional feedback regarding our arrival, as I believe this reflects an important aspect of guest care. Of course, the heavy rain and damaged roads were not the hotel’s fault. In such situations, however, it is the hotel’s responsibility to inform arriving guests in advance that the route suggested by Google Maps is not passable by car. My husband and I arrived by taxi following the suggested route, but the driver informed us that he could not proceed further. I remained with two pieces of luggage (one large suitcase and one small one), while my husband walked to the hotel, which is approximately a four-minute walk. A staff member returned with my husband. My husband put his small bag in the hotel. As the staff suggested , we walked down the same road again, pulling suitcases through the mud for approximately ten minutes before being placed in another taxi, which took an alternative route and arrived at the hotel after about five minutes. We were then asked to pay the taxi fare of 30 dinars. We had not requested a taxi, nor were we informed in advance that one would be called or that we would be responsible for the cost. After an uncomfortable argument, we eventually paid. When we finally arrived at the hotel, before asking the taxi fare, there was no greeting, no welcome, and no acknowledgment of the inconvenience. The issue was not the amount of money. Guests are not simply individuals who arrive to spend money; they are people who carefully plan their trips, choose accommodations thoughtfully, and arrive with expectation and trust. This trip was planned for my husband, who is nearly 70 years old and works without holidays. I selected your hotel specifically with his comfort and preferences in mind, and I was sorry that his rest was affected by an uncomfortable arrival and stay. I sincerely hope that La Villa Bleue will reflect on how much consideration guests invest when choosing where to stay, and that future guests may experience your hotel as a place of rest and healing."

"We had a lovely 3 nights stay at Villa Misk. Located a short walk from the scenic Sidi Bou Said old town, Carthage historical site is a short drive away and there is a bus stop for the Tunis or La Marsa bus just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Very nice rooms, delicious breakfast and the most friendly and familiar staff at reception. They arranged a fantastic tour guide to Carthage for us, a retired university professor, very kind and knowledgeable."

"I am absolutely in love with this spa! They have the most wonderful spa manager named Amira at check-in who is so warm and accommodating to us. This is the best Hammam and spa I have been to in Tunis/Carthage. Sonia does an amazing job with my Hammam salt scrub and is very thorough and professional. I also got a fantastic facial today from Mouna, whom I would highly recommend, especially if you need lots of extractions. I will be coming back again very soon😍"
