"Since I saw the show of chef Bertus I wanted to visit. A 300km detour and we did it. Hotel is lovely and neat. Very friendly staff. Enjoyable gin bar. Lunch & Breakfast in coffee shop was excellent. Flavourful and vibrant colours. I cannot believe that the same kitchen cooked the dinner. Was very dissapointed with dinner. I am an very good cook and do catering as well. A plate of food must be put together with colour and taste in mind. My sirloin was not medium and was brown and the cauliflower was grey and broccoli not green and pumpkin fritter brown. Lack flavour and seasoning. Hubby's lamshank was bland and that pea mash is not good. Rather serve with normal mash or samp. Tip good stock, onions, cellery and garlic and carrots and few cloves and rosmary and seasoning adds flavour to lamb shank. Tip...spash of lemon or milk keeps cauliflower white and pinch of baking soda keep broccoli nice bright green colour. Further during dinner they had to change our table lamp twice since it ran out of power because it was not charged. Certainly they can charge the lamps daily."

"I'm disappointed to say that I won't be booking a room at this place again for our stopovers to Cape Town. Upon arrival around 11PM, my husband and I were greeted by Collins, presumably the after-hours staff, who was friendly and helpful. However, the trouble began when we discovered that the bathroom hadn't been cleaned, with dried-up residue evident on the toilet and under the seat, along with a dirty shower and basin. We opted not to shower, use the bathroom, or even sleep under their sheets. My husband used our own towels, and I slept with my own throw. It was a worse experience than sleeping in the car! What a waste of money!"

"I booked two rooms, one double and one twin on the Agoda Website. The hotel doesn't offer twin rooms. When we initially checked into our two adjoining rooms (33 and 34) Room 33 had a terrible sewage odour. When I complained to reception they were not surprised! And happily moved us. The rooms are compact with a double bed. Full DSTV and Aircon. The shower and toilets have been redecorated. One of the rooms (34) didn't have very good water pressure. Our room 41 had ample hot water and pressure. There is a restaurant /Diner downstairs with good reviews, but we chose to go to the 4 Sheep Restaurant in town."
