"We stayed at Hensleigh House as a convenient location in Charmouth for a special lunch with chef Mark Hix, so wanted somewhere in walkable distance that looked comfortable and welcoming. Rather than simply a place to lay our heads, we discovered it was so much more. There's easy parking on the forecourt and we received a genuinely warm welcome from the owners Warren and Jayne. The whole B&B is absolutely spotless and the room was comfortable even in the current very hot weather. Hensleigh House is a couple of minutes' walk to the beautiful beach at Charmouth, with sand, fossil hunting, a choice of excellent beach cafes with local crab sandwiches and a brilliant fossil museum. There's an excellent choice of breakfast served between 8am and 9.15am from porridge, locally smoked kippers to a full English. Charmouth also has an excellent fish and chip shop and bakery and a couple of small cafes and pubs. We took food down to the beach in the evening to enjoy the view and joined several local residents clearing up the beach to make sure it still looked beautiful and cared for. Lovely village, really lovely B&B."
