"Not a four star welcome at the check in experience.The receptionist was rude and ignored us for ten minutes for no reason.We were treated as incumbents and made to wait unnecessarily.Our booking was relayed to her and clearly bias was used.Her words were “ there is a customer in front “.Reception was empty! She didn’t speak to us afterwards,no information relayed,no welcome and no room number given. Both of the staff at reception were rude, unhelpful and spoiled our experience.We don’t recommend and will not return.The toilet roll holder was broken and toilet paper was missing,however fortunately we had our own we would not be approaching reception for anything. Lightning in the rom is poor to read with.The hotel is functional and at best a two star.We couldn’t wait to leave! Give the place a miss and book elsewhere."

"Central hotel within easy walk of the cathedral etc. Restaurant at the side is very good value and nice food. Rooms are spacious and en-suites are modern with large shower cubicles. The strange thing was the lack of milk in the room- they provide a kettle, teas, coffee, sugar & sweetener but just give you 2 very small milk portions for when you arrive. Asked at reception on evening 1 for extra milk but he said he didn’t have any. On day 2 the coffee and tea were replenished but this time no milk! Asked at reception when we hot back in the afternoon and the guy said he would have to ask his boss who he proceeded to ring. More milk was granted and the guy said he would bring them to the room. 10 minutes later he arrived with just 2 of the small portions- unbelievable! We went across to Aldi and bought a fresh litre but had trouble keeping it cold as no fridge in the room. The milk issue was not major but very annoying as can’t understand the thinking!"

"We had never stayed in a cave before so we were unsure what to expect but our beautiful well equipped cave surpassed any expectations we may have had. It was so refreshing to enter it and leave the 40 degrees August heat outside to be in the cool and peaceful interior. The caves have been recently refurbished, by the new owners, and are tastefully and comfortably furnished with dining table, sofa and TV. There is a useful kitchen with ceramic hob and large refrigerator. The bed was comfortable and we slept so well in the cool and peaceful interior of the cave. We really enjoyed sitting outside watching the amazing sunsets in the evenings. El Atochal Origenes is a truly peaceful and relaxing place. Thank you Daniel and Maruchi for being the best hosts – you advised us of interesting places to visit, nothing was too much trouble for you, when it came to helping us enjoy our stay. You both could not have done more to make us feel welcome and to enjoy our stay. We would definitely love to return"

"A hotel where we will definitely stay again. The reception was super nice and the room was very comfortable. It had been a while since I found a hotel with mattresses that were suitable for sleeping and here I was able to rest perfectly as it was obvious that there was quality. Despite being a two-star hotel, we really liked the treatment we received and the stay, so we will stay again on our next visit to Guadix."
