Ganpati Guest House
9.2 (40 reviews)

Ganpati Guest House ★★★

📍 D-3/24, Meer Ghat, Domari

"Very comfortable guest house right on the Ganges. Good feed in the restaurant, very friendly and helpful staff. The original room I was given was rather noisy but there were no problems changing me to a better room. I did an early morning walk of the old city with Bellu who did a great jog."

Guleria Kothi at Ganges ★★★★★

📍 CK 1, Patni Tola, 14, Ram Ghat Rd, near Ganesh, Domari

"Since there were few reviews, I'll leave a detailed review as much as possible. [Location] For those coming specifically to see the Ganges River, I think this is a fantastic location. To get to the hotel, you drive to Namo Ghat, then transfer to the hotel's boat to reach the hotel. For me, being able to board the boat without negotiating was a great experience. *While you can probably get to Namo Ghat by Uber, I was hesitant, so I booked the hotel's round-trip transfer service. (It was 1800 INR one way by small taxi.) Because it's ***** the Ganges River, Uber, including rickshaws, isn't available, and walking is the only mode of transportation. I went during the hot season, so walking through the crowded, narrow, winding streets was very difficult, and I couldn't explore beyond the riverside. I didn't ask the hotel staff, so there might have been other transportation options besides walking. [Ganga Aarti] For my main travel objective, Ganga Aarti, the hotel staff will reserve seats for you if you ask. (※Free of charge) We traveled to the venue by the hotel's boat. It wasn't crowded, and since hotel staff took us there, we were able to enjoy the exhibition without being bothered by annoying touts. 【Food】 The hotel rules stated that eating outside food in the rooms was prohibited. For peace of mind, although I wanted to eat what I brought, I gave up and ate dinner at the hotel restaurant. The breakfast buffet had a limited selection, but included Indian food as well as Western dishes like bread, and they made omelets fresh to order. Furthermore, the hotel, including the restaurant, does not sell alcohol. We drank alcohol that we brought with us. Bringing in your own drinks seems to be OK. 【Facilities】 Good points: - No insects in the room - Amenities such as shampoo and toothbrushes were provided - Water and juice were provided free of charge Disappointing points: - The air conditioner had a slight musty smell - The water smelled bad (I think this is more of a local issue than a hotel issue) 【Hospitality】 The hotel staff were very kind, attentive, and helpful. I think having WhatsApp would make the stay even more comfortable. Overall, it was a very good hotel, and I would like to stay there again if I visit Varanasi. It's a wonderful hotel."

Hotel Alka

Hotel Alka ★★★

📍 D3/23 Meer Ghat, near Golden Temple, Domari

" The accommodations do not align with the price quoted and are considered overpriced. The hotel is situated approximately 1 kilometer from Gadaulia Chowk, accessible only via narrow streets, with no vehicle access available. Although the hotel is located in Meer Ghar, it is not advisable for families due to its distance from the main road, despite the staff being commendable. In case of an emergency, there is a risk of missing a train."

Sankatha Guest House
6.5 (1 reviews)

Sankatha Guest House ★★

📍 BRAMHNAL, MANIKARNIKA GHAT, Domari

"Located in front of the Ganges River, it is a perfect location for sightseeing. However, the road to the hotel is very narrow and taxis cannot pass, so those arriving late at night should be careful. The windows weren't locked properly, so a lot of insects came in. However, there were no dangerous incidents during our stay, so we can recommend it to those who want to stay at a cheap price."

Shanti Guest House

Ganpati Guest House ★★★
"I spent 2 weeks in Ganpati Guesthouse and after a few days began to feel so much at home there. I like the communal spaces and incredible location, right in the heart of things, but also a peaceful refuge from the rest of the city. I felt very safe and cared for by the easygoing, friendly but professional staff who were very helpful, kind and caring. Highly recommend the guide, Balu who took me on a wonderful walking tour, he has such a gentle and generous manner and is full of local knowledge without being overbearing. I love the roof terrace restaurant and the lovely waiters - and I especially enjoyed the simple but lovely Indian food on the menu. I feel very at home in Varanasi - and the safe refuge of Ganpati is a huge part of that feeling. THANK YOU! I can't wait to come back."

Hotel Alka ★★★
"The location is perfect as it is located ***** the Ganges River! You can see the Ganges River from the attached restaurant, and the food there was delicious! However, since it is located ***** the Ganges River, you cannot reach the hotel by rickshaw or taxi, so you will have to walk for a few minutes, but the journey is also exciting! The problem was that there were a lot of small insects like mosquitoes (?) in the room, but I was given an insect repellent machine at the reception."
