📍 Zone Touristique، 155, Ghlissia

"It's in the desert, so it's nice to have a place to rest. The facilities are relatively old, but they are actually very good in the local area. The air conditioning, hot water and toilets all work normally, and there is also wifi. The breakfast is filling and the swimming pool is good for swimming. It is very convenient to set off to visit the Sahara Desert and is recommended to those who come here."

📍 Zone Touristique De Douz, Ghlissia

"Although I've found people all over Tunisia to be incredibly kind and helpful, these are not the adjectives I'd use for the staff at the Hotel Sahara Douz, who seemed grumpy and not interested in addressing any of my questions. My room's AC was not functioning; and the room was filled with flies and mosquitoes, so I was reluctant to open the unscreened window for air flow. The walls were paper thin and it was impossible to get a good night's sleep as all one could hear were guests in the hallway or overhead, rearranging furniture."

📍 Ksar Ghilane, Douz

"Pro Really beautiful and peaceful setting in the Ksar Ghilane oasis, enjoy the sunset from their watchtower The room has a real bathroom, and it's quite comfy even though the shower could do with a screen so as not to flood the living space Near the centre of action if you want to do quads or camel ride, and the original source of the oasis is just down the road Con There is no WiFi, for the range they are targeting they should look into sorting that out (Starlink?) The bedsheets are an afterthought: they don't get to cover the mattress, they're rough and also not always present (pillow covers what are these??). Moreover the thick fake fur blankets tend to be full of the sand dust The food could do with some investment. Appreciate we're in the middle of the desert but nothing stops them from bringing good meat here rather than boney and fat meat.. The receptionist wants to be anywhere but there Other tips: Arrive before sunset, the road is paved but also full of sand!!"

The Residence Douz ★★★★
"Our stay at The Residence Douz Hotel was nothing short of magical, an experience that felt like stepping into a dream we never wanted to wake up from. Every detail was perfection. The villa was breathtaking, elegant, serene, and deeply comforting, offering a sense of peace that is so rare to find. The atmosphere of the entire place is pure luxury, yet so warm and intimate that it instantly feels like home. The cuisine was exquisite, each meal crafted with care and flavor, turning every moment at the table into a true pleasure. But what made this experience unforgettable was the exceptional hospitality. A heartfelt thank you to Abdelbasset from the restaurant, whose professionalism and kindness made every dining experience feel personal and special. And to Jaafar, who drives the voiturette always smiling, attentive, and incredibly welcoming. Their presence added a human touch to this already perfect escape, making us feel valued, seen, and truly cared for. This is not just a hotel, it is an experience, a feeling, a memory that stays with you. We cannot wait to return. I didn’t take a lot of pictures because I was living the moment lol"

Accommodation near Desert a Douz ★★★
"The bungalows were very basic. The overall setting lends itself well to cultural immersion and encourages a sense of escape. You couldn't be in a better place to experience the desert. My only problem was the difficulty of getting from the bus station to the hotel at night. They failed to mention that if I wanted to walk (30 minutes), a large part of the way is in complete darkness because there is no street lighting, and it's through fields and palm trees. It can be frightening for someone unfamiliar with desert environments."

"No way I's this 4 star or 3, bits falling off here there and everywhere..the staff where great, the drinks where to, the food, well not much choice, the rooms clean beds and sheets...so if you want to crash, it's fine. Never left the hotel, and struggled to sleep Sorry but its the truth"

Hotel Pansy ★★★★
"We spent there the night of New Year’s Eve, we were four in two rooms both were dirty (tents). One of the tents had a broken window, smelly blankets and with holes, the bathroom was scary to say the least and lots of ant nests, there wasn’t any kind of soaps and when we asked for it they brought us two little sample of just shampoo (no body gel or hand soaps) and the only towels they gave us were two hand towels. The other one had the A.C. broken and you don’t want to know how cold it gets at night. I usually don’t write many reviews but I had to make sure that people knew what they are going to find if they decide to go there. Dinner time then came… 100€ each for a “BIG NYE DINNER” that was a cold buffet with very few choices started at 7:30, by 8:30 everything was over, with no dessert. Of course the drinks were excluded and we wanted to drink some wine to celebrate (and to not think about all the disappointments) but they ran out after we ordered 2 bottles. I guess they had a total of like 7 bottles of wine. We tried to be positive and waited for the music to start since they built a stage to dance and wait for the midnight, unfortunately there were about just 10 locals having the time of their life and at 11:40 they stopped because they had to go celebrate somewhere else apparently.. basically thrown a party for them with tourists’ money. I save you the description of the breakfast. The owner of the hotel didn’t even say happy new year when she saw us, no attention to details, very poor customer service, no working WiFi and very expensive for Tunisian standards. We truly hope you don’t choose this place for your desert experience, you don’t even realize you’re in the desert because you’re in a sort of street where everybody can easily reach with their car. It was a complete let down from the first minute to the last. The only good thing was that we stayed there only one night, sadly it was a special night, being NYE."

"We stayed here as part of a Sahara excursion for one night. Upon check in, a member of staff grabbed our small holdall and walked away with it to our room then wouldn’t release it until my husband gave him a tip. The room was spacious but very tatty. The beds and pillows were hard like bricks plus the the bedding itchy. There was no toilet roll in the bathroom and the towels looked dirty and had an awful odour. Luckily, we brought our own of both so used those. Toiletries and hand soap were provided but were half used by past guests which is poor for health & safety reasons. Fortunately again, we had our own to use. The shower was hand held and the spray was akin to someone spitting and the water cold. The buffet dinner and breakfast wasn’t appetising so we just had some bread and a dessert in the evening plus yogurt the following morning. The staff were unwelcoming and noticeably favoured the French guests. It was tolerable for the time we spent there."
