HOTEL R9 The Yard Ebino ★★★

"The location is convenient. There's a huge Cosmos drugstore (including a supermarket) directly opposite; it doesn't have ready-made food, but it has a lot of frozen food, and only cash is accepted. A 7-Eleven is a 3-minute walk to the left, and a Lawson is a 5-minute walk to the right. There's also a supermarket across the street (card payment accepted), but it doesn't have ready-made food either; the prices are quite cheap. The accommodation counter offers free coffee, tea, bathrobes, toothpaste, and other amenities. Each person also receives a daily voucher for a frozen bento box (rice or noodles), which can be redeemed at any time. There are microwaves in the rooms. Next to the counter is a laundry room with four washer-dryer combos; a standard wash and dry cycle takes about 2 hours and costs ¥700."

"The hotel is clean and tidy, with complete facilities and a variety of hot spring options, especially the cave hot spring, which is unique and very comfortable to soak in, making for a great experience. The hotel staff are also warm and professional, which deserves high praise."

Kakuto Onsen ★★

"Ebino City is located in a rural area, so the guesthouse facilities are not as well-equipped as those in the city; the rooms do not have private bathrooms. The onsen (hot spring) facilities are not as good as those in hotels. However, it's perfectly comfortable for a good night's sleep. What was surprising was that they arranged a private room for us to have breakfast; it was comfortable, had a great dining atmosphere, and offered beautiful natural views from the window, with a full view of cherry blossom trees (in December, only the branches of the cherry blossoms could be seen). We had to spend a night in Ebino City to visit Kirishima National Park. Hotels are very limited, but the Kakuto onsen guesthouse still had its own unique charm."

Jyubei No Yado ★★

"Jyubei is a good mid-range Ryokan which we stayed at for one night on our road trip through Miyazaki. Our room was fine, well maintained and clean, although not as big as in more upscale Ryokans. The private outside onsen was nice to unwind. Price/value is alright, just don't expect the typical services, such as staff showing you to your room etc., which are not provided here."

Shiratori Onsen Ueyu ★★

"The natural volcanic steam sauna experience was very special. The accommodation also had a great view. However, there was no bathroom in the room, so I had to use the shared bathroom in the hallway, which was a bit inconvenient. Still, I was satisfied with the low price."
