"Just had 7 nights at The Espiritu. The room was very spacious and newly redecorated, clean and comfortable. We had breakfast included and were just expecting a continental breakfast but instead had a good choice of a cooked breakfast each morning. The staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. The food at the restaurant was lovely with a good selection. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you to the lovely staff."

"We have just had 5 glorious weeks staying at the Garden Reef Bungalows. Our room was huge and had an 8m frontage onto the ocean. The snorkelling right out our front door was fabulous with so many varieties of exquisite fish and coral. The gardens have beautiful tropical plants tended by the sweetest gardeners. We made our own brunch each day in the large well equiped communal kitchen and walked next door each evening to the Salty Dog Restaurant at Turtle Bay Lodge. The food is delicious and the staff so happy and friendly. We cannot recommend the Garden Reef Bungalows enough."

"The Deco Stop Lodge is in a wonderful location with a view of the bay from my room, the open air restaurant/cafe/bar and the pool. I travelled to Espiritu Santo with 5 friends for a diving holiday. Our non-diving days were filled with adventures, activities and sight seeing all organised with ease by Ben and Kim, the resort owner/managers. They were always there for a friendly chat and to take care of anything we might need. The local staff were helpful, friendly and had wonderful senses of humour. We shared many laughs. I can easily recommend the DSL as a place to stay and enjoy on Espiritu Santo Island."

"We just spent five nights at Barrier Beach Resort on Espiritu Santo and honestly… it was exactly what we needed. It’s a small, adults-only resort, which makes it feel really personal and relaxed. Only a short flight from Brisbane, but it feels a world away. The new Aussie managers, Shannon and Sean, were absolutely lovely — nothing was ever too much trouble. We were those guests (forgot things, needed help, I fell out of a tree… long story ), and they handled everything with kindness and humour. Catherine was also amazing, helping us organise a beautiful private tour with John and even problem-solving when we realised we couldn’t access cash. They went as far as arranging a phone charger from town and loaning us one in the meantime — just genuinely good people. Also… special mention to Millie the chihuahua, who got daily visits from me for pats The location is stunning. The beach is right there — literally steps from our villa — with crystal clear, warm turquoise water. We swam with dugongs (which apparently is quite rare!), fed fish, and wandered along soft sand dotted with hermit crabs. Plenty of shade, complimentary kayaks, SUP boards, and bikes to use, plus easy airport transfers. Our standalone villa was well set up with everything we needed, including air con, nice bathroom products, and little touches like sarongs to use. It’s worth noting some rooms are a bit more dated than others, but there are newer ones being added. The restaurant setting is beautiful — right by the water — The staff were genuinely sweet & efficient, and we never had a bad meal. The gnocchi, curries, spring rolls, sticky date pudding and strawberry ice cream were standouts. We also did a private tour with John to Champagne Beach, Port Olry (fish & chips for lunch), and Nanda Blue Hole — absolutely spectacular and well worth it (even if the water was freezing… I still jumped in three times). A couple of small things to be aware of: it’s not a cheap stay, and because it’s quite secluded, you’ll mostly be eating onsite. While we loved slowing down, if you’re someone who needs constant activity, you might find it a little quiet. That said, if your idea of a holiday is to switch off, swim, read, eat well and just be — this place is pretty special. We left relaxed, happy, and with zero bug bites (which honestly feels like a miracle in the tropics!). We’d absolutely come back ~One small thing — we had mentioned when booking that it was our 30th wedding anniversary, and while it didn’t take away from our stay at all, it would have been a lovely touch for it to be acknowledged in some small way. Having said that, we also didn’t mention it again while we were there, so perhaps that one’s partly on us."

"Very real resort - peaceful and well loved and cared for and run by Brad Lisa and family as well as all the beautiful staff thank you tumas the snorkeling and kayaking very easy-close too didn't even need to use fins and saw a huge variety of tropical fish soft and hard corals Food and service of an excellent standard and ever changing grounds lush tropical and beautifully maintained If you are looking for total chill out time definitely ticks that box ☑️ The only negative was the day we had to leave this special island paradise Santo is a definite step back to real island life which has been lost to westernisation in many other Pacific destinations Hopefully we can return again asap!! "Dany Island in Vanuatu is a truly special place. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely surrounded by untouched nature. The island is peaceful, beautifully maintained and remote enough to feel like a genuine escape. It was also an excellent central place to stay. The location was perfect, access was easy and there was so much to do both on the island and around Santo. It gave me the feeling of staying somewhere secluded without being cut off from the experiences I wanted to explore. I love snorkelling, and the reef around Dany Island exceeded my expectations. The water was incredibly clear, the seabed was clean and beautiful, and there were healthy corals and marine life everywhere I looked. You can clearly see how much care goes into protecting the surrounding marine environment. The most memorable part of my visit was seeing a dugong while I was swimming. It was calmly moving through the water only around 30 metres from the shoreline. Watching it in its natural environment was an experience I will never forget. I am so glad I did not miss out on visiting Dany Island. For anyone looking for a peaceful island escape, a perfect base for exploring Santo, exceptional reef snorkelling and genuine wildlife encounters, this place is a must."

"Turtle Bay Resort is one of the best accommodations I have stayed in my 40 years of travelling. Set in well maintained gardens on a sea frontage, Turtle Bay offers a range of stays including cabins, glamping tents and even a treehouse. Our cabin was well maintained and whilst not air conditioned, a ceiling fan and stand up fan provided adequate cooling. Breakfast of fruit platter and eggs cooked to your choice was part of the tariff, we ate dinner at the resort restaurant every night and whilst prices were at Australian levels the quality and serving sizes were very good. The resort managers Mick and Vicky were lovely people and chatted to guests in the restaurant every night. Mick runs the scuba diving store and offers day trips to outlying reefs and rental gear. Turtle Bay Lodge is around 20 miles from Santo’s airport at Luganville, and Santo’s main attractions - Lonnoc Beach, Champagne Beach, Jackie’s Blue Hole, and Riri Blue hole are all within an hour’s drive of the resort. The only negatives are the poor state of the road from Luganville and the absence of any local restaurants and shops. I loved Turtle Bay Resort for its beautiful setting, well maintained buildings and pool, and very chill vibe."

"Aore breeze is a beautiful spot to relax and explore Aore and Santo islands. We fell asleep to the sound of the ocean every night and loved relaxing in the hammock on the balcony. Definitely recommend bringing reef shoes to make the most of the snorkeling right out front. There was plenty of exploring to do and the kids loved getting around on quad bikes and boat. Very friendly staff were happy to help with activities and organizing trips to Santo. We can’t wait to go back!"

"The resort is a bit old and could use some love. Our little bungalow was fine, clean and comfortable, but could use some improvements such as bedside tables/lights, hooks or bars to hang towels and clothes. The restaurant food is ok but we found nicer food in town. Note that the road from town to this resort and further west is currently being worked on, it is very very holey, muddy and slow at the moment (June 2025). When the road and footpath is fixed it could be nice to walk to town but at the moment you get covered in mud. The staff were lovely and friendly"

"Living in the South Pacific, I first came to know Dany through his sea turtle conservation course work. I was therefore keen to experience firsthand this beautiful private island and its commitment to protecting nature, particularly sea turtles. The island was serene and away from big crowds. The local team were exceptional, with warm, attentive Ni-Vanuatu hospitality at its best. The food was excellent, and the spacious bungalows have been thoughtfully designed and positioned to minimise their impact on the island’s natural state so that they don’t disturb the trees and turtle nesting habitat. Despite its size, the island has surprising natural diversity, including two distinct forest environments and an important, carefully protected sea turtle nesting area. I would particularly recommend visiting during turtle nesting season and booking the nesting experience. The team also arranged several enjoyable excursions and tours during my stay. I ended up postponing my journey back out of Santo, they generously welcomed me back for a second stay and looked after me beautifully once again. That extra kindness said a great deal about the people and the place. I would return to Dany Island without hesitation."
