"We stayed at this hotel for two nights in July 2024. It was truly beautiful, very clean, and the room was beautifully decorated. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice. Convenient location in a quiet area, close to the center. Recommended!"

Resort Cala la Luna

"If it were possible to give zero stars, I would without hesitation after our week-long experience at Cala la Luna. The only bright spot in this disappointing experience was the hotel's location, conveniently close to the city center. The standard of the rooms was also positive, for the most part. From the beginning, the welcome from the ladies at the reception was anything but warm, with an attitude that seemed to depend on their degree of friendliness towards customers. Breakfast, unfortunately, was a complete disappointment: inferior quality croissants, the total absence of fruit (apart from a few Kiwis with the consistency of Cala Rossa rocks) and a coffee to be prepared independently with a machine which to define as horrible would be a compliment. . The result was an undrinkable drink - all this in Italy. The staff in the room did nothing to improve the situation. Once they mixed salt packets with sugar, turning my coffee into a salty drink. When reporting it, the breakfast manager not only ignored our complaint, but even laughed in my face, demonstrating an unprofessional attitude. Sometimes they said hello, sometimes they didn't. They started chatting among themselves rather than helping the customer. The request for privacy for our room on a special day was completely ignored, and when we returned, they nonchalantly informed us that there had been a lack of communication and that they had come in anyway. The cleaning of the room was done with the same casualness as the rest in that hotel: sometimes it was cleaned well, other times we found the garbage bag left in the room, the kitchen was not cleaned for 3 days in a row, even if we communicated . We were now used to getting towels in the corridor. The animation, far from engaging, was a real tragedy. A rude and rude entertainer constantly disturbed our holiday, going so far as to rudely interrupt an important call from my girlfriend, always with a cigarette in his mouth and an unpleasant attitude. Another time he chased us to the port of Favignana, always with a cigarette in his mouth. After experiencing all these disturbances, we decided to speak to the front desk to express our concerns. However, the promise to report matters to the director remained just an empty promise. We only discovered on the day of departure, when the manager himself accompanied us to the ferry, that our complaints were never taken seriously. A bitter ending to a holiday we would have liked to forget. In conclusion, we cannot recommend Cala la Luna to anyone looking for a pleasant and relaxing holiday. We hope that management seriously addresses these issues to improve service and make the experience more positive for future guests."

"Lovely, clean house with a nice sea view from the terrace. AC in every room. Was on the smaller side but was still very comfortable. Mario, his wife and his mother were very friendly and helpful, they were an example of warm Sicilian hospitality. They gave us great tips on what to do and where to go around Marettimo. One of our favourites was the boat trip around the island with the superstar captain nunzio who told us very interesting, historical and fun facts about the island. It was a wonderful experience for all of my family and I would definitely go back."

"From start to finish Mirko was amazing. Helping us hire bikes - we hired electric bikes for 15 euros each a day and zoomed round the island with ease. Mirko was informative and answered any questions we had. We had an unforgettable 3 nights and can’t fault the place. Would love to come back."

"The view was amazing. And the free wine a nice touch. The host and cleaner lady are friendly. Wonderful terrace. Checkin. Asked to give 1 hour notice , we did. We arrived and messaged again. Located our own room 20 mins later by seeking our baggage inside an open room as too hot to be standing outside. If its unstaffed id suggest to whatsapp the room number to guests Breakfast. Language barrier makes it difficult to order drinks. We were not approached at all to ask if we wished for a drink. Id suggest a bilingual list that could help. Breakfast buffet offered during our stay was primarily cake Furniture is spartan in the rooms. The bed in room 4, the frame creaked so badly when either of us moved slightly. Too loud to sleep through. The fridge also has loud intermittent noise. We didnt sleep comfortably at all during our stay. Bedside shelf is too small due to awkward lighting position , so most possessions and drink was kept on floor. Roll over to get it, bed creaks, were awake. Communal walkway outside the room, is the only window to outside, so must largely be kept closed for privacy. Even when open , the room remains dark. Bathroom has large wooden door and no windows, so internal lights need to be used throughout day and night making it feel harsh not a relaxing space No TV in our room if thats important to others. Spartan uncomfortable furniture continues outside each room. Hard, tired seating to sit on, we didnt see any guests out there either probably for the same reason. Which is a shame given the view from the room. It would be nice to enjoy that space privately The room wasnt freshened or new towels supplied during our 2 night stay. We have no idea if it was missed or not included , but at 150 euros a night we'd expect it, or to be told. Food we were excited about given the reviews. And was the main reason we stayed. I ordered a melt off the bone shank. It was dry, hard, impossible to carve. Potatoes were burnt, yet uncooked and overly greasy. Definitely didnt have a feeling of freshly prepared. I was asked by the host why I hadn't eaten it, I replied as to why. Nothing further came from that. Such a huge disappointment from the reviews..we were relieved to leave for some much needed rest and comfort, but we will miss the view and terrace. Its such a shame as it has so much going for it, but the service and comfort isnt there for the price point."
