We got an overnight stay with dinner as a wedding gift. I am glad it was a gift and we hadn’t paid for it ourselves as I was left disappointed. The hotel is certainly tired and in need of upgrading. I’ve had nicer rooms at a premier inn. The swimming area is like a public swimming baths and also in need of a serious refurb. Dinner was ok, nothing special. We had booked for 7pm and were not finished until after 9 - very slow service even though it was not particularly busy. My husband ordered soup for starter and had to go looking for a spoon as he wasn’t given one and no waiting staff were in our area to ask for one. He then had a burger which was raw in the middle. Not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. We won’t be back and won’t be recommending to others.

If you want somewhere that is busy and bustling then this isn’t the place for you . If however, you want somewhere quiet and picturesque then this is the place for you . We were greeted by the owner who was extremely welcoming. Our room was cosy , quaint and exceptionally clean . Just look at the gorgeous window ! There was also a velux window in our room which had a blackout curtain to use ( great idea !!) There was a lounge we could use and a well equipped kitchen supplying cereal , yoghurt , bread , milk etc for us to make our own breakfast. This included microwave, toaster , dishwasher- all of a high standard. The eatery downstairs is open for part of the week 10-4 and the food is outstanding. One point to make is that other restaurants are approx 11 miles away so you need to factor this is . What we did was eat at the cafe onsite for brunch and then had a picnic in the grounds later that day . Would highly recommend

This hotel itself was nice and can't really be faulted. The pool looks bigger in the photos. We booked the maze restaurant at check-in for 19.30 but it was closed when we arrived and had to have our dinner in the bar. We had a double room, unfortunately room 109 decided to wake everyone up at 06.00 in the morning screaming and shouting at each other. Someone from the hotel knocked on the door 30 minutes later telling them to keep it down. (Not much the hotel can do regarding guests who only think about themselves). Unfortunately it did put me off the hotel.

The hotel location is lovely, very close to the golf courses and a nice short wander to the beach. Very quiet and peaceful with plenty of places to sit both inside and outside. Room was very clean and nicely furnished, bathroom has a good shower and complimentary shampoo and shower gel. It’s all very well appointed with a little kettle and hairdryer also included for use. The only minor was pillows being harder than desired (we didn’t complain or ask for alternatives as frankly it’s a very minor problem which didn’t stop a good night sleep), for anyone fussy perhaps worth asking for softer. The bar was well stocked with options and breakfast is pre-ordered but is very nice, being of a greedy disposition I would have liked more! Recommend staying if in Montrose, especially good location for visiting local attractions.

This hotel is in a great location! It's right next to the train station and opposite the Discovery ship. The rooms are clean, modern, and quiet. The shower has great water pressure and the pillows on the beds are very comfortable. Also, the Wifi was good. The kettle and free teas and coffees were nothing to write home about and when you use the shower you do get water everywhere and totally soak the floor because there is no door to close-just a half glass wall. This was not really a huge issue though, and I really liked staying here and would definitely recommend this hotel and definitely return!
