📍 Rruga e Zejtarve, Gjirokaster
★★★★ 9.2 (58 reviews)

"Hotel located in the heart of old Gjirokastër. They upgraded my room free of charge and lent me the phone charging cable I had forgotten. The Google Maps directions are somewhat confusing; it's best to ask for directions once you're in the old town. It's a well-known hotel. The staff is friendly. Breakfast wasn't ready on time, so I had to leave without eating because there was nothing prepared. I suppose it was because it was a quiet day and they didn't expect a guest to want breakfast as soon as the dining room theoretically opened. I left without breakfast and without coffee."

"Facing the main square Hotel Cajupi is close to many restaurants. The outdoor dining area on the top floor offers a panoramic view ot the town and nearby plains. Rooms were clean with consistent wi-fi access. The hotel offer a modest breakfast buffet. When I dined there the only fruit served was sliced watermelon. The coffee was also weak."

Dropped me to the Old town and picked me up from Old town at night in a very short notice for free 3. Dropped me at the Castle (for free of course :)) 4. "The house was a renovated old building, and the materials used in the renovation were very high-quality, as the husband, an architect and archaeologist, renovated the old house himself. Some relics were even discovered in the basement. The wife was very hospitable and introduced many nearby attractions."

"Navigation is not good, the positioning is inaccurate, which brings great inconvenience to the guests. Hope the hotel and the platform will attract attention. And the front desk service is not very serious and very warm."

"Lovely quiet hotel in a great location with lovely views. Unfortunately we didn't stay in it as we were bumped into their Medieval Rooms. Our room was very hot and the air-conditioning didn't work. The hotel couldn't fix it, although eventually we did that ourselves. There nothing to sit on but the bed and no toilet paper in the very cramped "bathroom". The room was noisy day and night, being right on the busy main street - one of our friends had people sitting talking outside their room, 1 metre from her head, when trying to sleep. The drink-making facility was one jug kettle, one mug and some spoons - between 6 occupants, in an area open to the public."

"We had an excellent stay at Bora Hotel in Gjirokastër. The hotel is modern, very clean, and comfortable. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. The location is very convenient, only about 10 minutes from the Old Bazaar, making it easy to explore the city. The hotel also has its own restaurant, which is very convenient for guests and electric vehicle charging facilities, which was a big plus for us. We highly recommend Bora Hotel to anyone visiting Gjirokastër and would gladly stay here again."

"Amazing views from the hotel to the mountain. The restaurant where breakfast is served is on the roof, so it is beautiful to sit and eat whilst taking in the spectacular views. The hotel is in a great location in the heart of the old bazaar. It is also easy to walk up to the caslte. Room was comfy and the views definitely are the selling point of this hotel."

"Oh what a find! We were slightly nervous about our Albania trip and we really did not need to be. It was an hour’s drive from Sarande in to the mountains to Gjirokaster via some stunning scenery but there was not much habitation in between. We were apprehensive about what we would find on our arrival in Gjirokaster. The village itself is absolutely stunning with loads of culture and history and authentic food and the people are just lovely. To get to the hotel you have to drive to the top of the hill and just when you wonder what you have booked you sweep down a long drive way to this absolute gem of a hotel. The views are breath taking of the mountains, valley and Gjirokaster and the castle below. I cannot express how beautiful it is. Our room was stunning. An authentic Ottoman style room with carved ceilings and wooden four poster bed. Our children were on single beds in the living area of the suite. The bedroom opens on to a balcony with the stunning, sweeping views of the mountainside and pool area. The most prefect spot for an evening glass of champagne watching the wildlife and the sun set on the valley below. We could not believe how perfect it was. The room is well appointed and spacious and clean. The pool area is exceptional with three pools with panoramic views of the mountains and town and infinity pool on the top deck. They are peaceful and relaxing with lovely sunbeds and the décor around the pool has been incredibly well curated. Stunning! We booked dinner in the restaurant for the first night and again we were apprehensive. The restaurant has a mind blowing view and one of the waiters suggested a bottle of white Albanian wine. It is honestly the best wine we have tasted in a long time, a bit like a really good Chablis and we are very much in to our food and drink with my husband sourcing wine from all over the world. The food was fabulous and we had such a wonderful dinner. Service was superb. My only niggle is that the mains came out before the starters were finished and they forgot to order the kids mains which meant we were finished our mains by the time theirs arrived and they are slow eaters. Please give customers a break between the starters and the mains. The service in the restaurant was excellent otherwise and we felt very well looked after. You will need to get a taxi down to the bazaar but is only 5 euros and the hotel recommended a taxi service. The Manager very kindly came out to help us with one of our taxis which was very much appreciated and he seemed super keen to ensure everything was ok for our stay and that the taxi driver was looking after us and not ripping us off. Thank you. Breakfast was buffet style. It was ok but I’m not a buffet fan as I hate eating food that’s been sitting out. Some a la carte options would improve the breakfast offering . This hotel really is wonderful and we wished we had booked a longer stay. We have recommended the hotel to friends and family and i"

"One thing to note is that parking is tricky. The B&B doesn't have its own parking lot. The owners of the B&B did help us with parking, though. A big tip is to not rent a car in this part of Gjirokäster, because the roads are really steep and narrow. The B&B itself is clean, the rooms are beautiful, and the breakfast is typically Albanian. The table is set for you personally every morning. We spent a week in Gjirokäster and there is more than enough to see, so we highly recommend it."

Hotel Kalemi ★★★
"We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Kalemi 2 in Gjirokastër! The hotel itself is full of charm, beautifully combining traditional Albanian architecture with modern comfort. The breakfast was absolutely delicious — fresh, varied, and served with care in a lovely setting. A small tip for travelers arriving by car: Google Maps can sometimes make mistakes when guiding you to the hotel, so it’s best to double-check the route or contact the reception for directions — the staff are very friendly and always ready to help. Overall, a fantastic place to stay in Gjirokastër — cozy, authentic, and with great hospitality!"

Palorto Hotel ★★★
"Despite its location near the old town of Gjirokastër, the booking website listed parking among the amenities. In reality, the road to the property is very complicated, unless you're a local, due to the cobblestone road and very steep hills. Furthermore, that specific area is virtually devoid of parking, and the few available are already occupied or occupied by locals with rocks on the ground. The only way to safely reach the property is by taxi or a less than recommended bus. The hotel manager, who saw us particularly upset because we had to park far away and carry all our luggage uphill, out of pity and perhaps fear of a bad review, kindly accompanied me to get my car and let me park in one of his spots. It's a shame, though, that my car was then locked by the car that was supposed to occupy the space, preventing us from picking it up later, except the next morning when we checked out. Overall, the property is nice, with a nice breakfast, but I would at least remove the parking and free street parking from the amenities, as that wasn't really the case! There should be transparency, indicating that the area isn't easy to reach by car and that there are limited parking spaces nearby. Had I read that, I wouldn't have chosen it, but at least there would have been honesty."
