"We stayed 6 nights at this well-hidden magical place at the end of August. It is almost unthinkable how sophisticated and carefully but still effortlessly designed this Castellino is. The rooms are all unique, large and featured with all amenities (kitchen included) which makes your stay comfortable. The pool - with a breathtaking view of the Adriatic and the medieval Castello Gradara - is the center of Life here - and deservedly so: you start your day with a pool-side breakfast, continue with nicely prepared cocktails consumed on the sunbeds and of course indulging in the sun-heated pool itself. After having a short break in your nicely cooled room and dressed up smart-casual you can enjoy a delicious dinner cooked by Chef Andrea at one of the pool-side tables following the setting sun above the Sea. If you are curious enough, you can discover the secrets of the magical garden with its many hidden places. If you are lucky and spend a Thursday here you can attend the weekly Sundown party at the fabulous terraced garden just below the pool - the setting is something you can not imagine until you see it for yourself. You`ll not be bored even if the weather does not favour sunbathing - you can discover the beauties and historical places (like Urbino, Gradara )of both the Marche and Emilia-Romagna - or even San Marino - all in 40 kms distance) If you long to dive into the Sea there are many beaches nearby (eg Gabbice Mare), althoug those can be crowded during Summer peak. For shopping the best place is Pesaro (centro historico - only 15 min drive from the Castellino) with it`s many local designer shops and high fashion brand stores. For beach bags and accessories do not miss the Brandina brand store right in Piazzale Poppolo. Nothing is easier than dining out in one fo the many very good and very affordable restaurants - all within 5 min drive. The nearest one (Il Melograno with its heavenly home-made pastas) is literally at your doorstep. Finally I can`t miss out to mention the super-friendly and ever helpful hotel staff to whom we owe a big Thanks for not only making our stay wonderfully easy-going but making us always smiling. We just can not wait to return next Summer:) "

"Gradara is an odd little place. Perhaps a perfect stopover on a long north-south Italy road trip, but aside from the nearby castle and the proximity to über touristy San Marino, there really isn't much to do out here. The hotel sits just outside of town, making everything and everywhere a drive. The rooms are comfortable with some quirky design elements (odd Peacock feather art, antique fans...?) The breakfast is pleasant and the pool area is very relaxing."

"So disappointed with our stay in this pretty hotel located on the outskirts of Gradara. I had seen reviews that mentioned the piped music but I did not expect it to be so loud and intrusive. The music spoiled our time at the pool and in the restaurant. We could even hear it in our bedroom. We had to get out of bed to ask for it to be turned down as the gentleman on reception refused to talk to me on the phone. He was extremely rude but grudgingly reduced the noise eventually. The other staff were all very pleasant but this individual would be better employed in a non customer facing role. The rooms were nicely decorated and the beds comfy but despite the good breakfast we thought for the price we paid was not good value for money. An experience not to be repeated."

"We decided to stay here for a few days. A terrible choice. The welcome was traumatic, with staff who were listless and hasty, bordering on rude. The complex is built in a "diffused" style, which is far from "diffused," but rather "slapdash." The main building is a majestic ancient cloister with a pool and breathtaking views, where only a few rooms and the parking lot are located. You'll fall in love at first sight. But that's all there is to it, and I'll explain why: our room was several minutes' walk away (but nothing problematic so far) and not even the entrance was ancient. It was clearly part of an expansion of the main building, which had nothing whatsoever to do with it. The room was spacious, modern, and clean, but everything was a bit haphazard (the bedside tables were different and out of place), the lime-green soap dishes clashed with the decor. Our bathroom toiletries weren't changed daily. We didn't say anything the first time, as it might have been an oversight. However, on the second consecutive night without any soap, we called the number (reception closes before dinner) to politely ask for something to wash ourselves. They asked if we absolutely had to wash ourselves right then, but didn't offer a concrete solution. Thankfully, we had underwear cleanser in our suitcase. The staff, as mentioned above, except for a few exceptions, is extremely uninterested and hasty. At breakfast, we were served by a young man who simply said, "Hi, what can I bring you?" without a uniform or any recognition. And, still in reference to this, I've asked for a soy latte several times and was only served a coffee. A clear lack of professionalism and preparation, as well as management of the staff and the complex as a whole, is evident. It should be noted that any type of service is subject to charges, such as non-exclusive use of the spa or beach towel changes costing €8 per towel. Breakfast: a very sore point for the hotel. Low-quality products are available (fruit juice not fresh and with added sugars), potentially pre-frozen and heavily fried doughnuts, and fruit seemingly from the supermarket and not local vendors. A note should be made regarding gluten-free products: I am celiac and had written to inform the hotel of my problem, asking if it was possible to have any gluten-free options for me. I received no response, much less any products in the morning. I had to ask repeatedly just to be able to eat something. Needless to say, the next day I went to the supermarket to buy something to take with me for the next morning. This is scandalous, given that a hotel should anticipate any need. Overall: a magical place, but truly undervalued."
