The standout, however, was the exceptional service—staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay special. A lovely personal touch was a birthday card and shortbread for my husband, which made the stay even more memorable. We left feeling genuinely valued and would not hesitate to return."

"An amazing location, lovely grand old house style with a modern extension. Lovely garden but neglected garden. Sadly no cooked food available as owner seems to be running down the hotel to repurpose! Staff very pleasant but disheartened because of a bleak future. What a pity to be loosing such a special place to relax and recharge."

"We had a wonderful stay at Sugar Boat. We stayed in room 4, it was so well appointed and restful. Even plenty of space when we unexpectedly had to have our son stay for 2 of the 3 nights; all staff were helpful and obliging in this situation, and the additional family rate very reasonable. Breakfasts and dinners were a delight. It was fun to be able to see the chefs at work, and the kitchen shop a little treasure trove of joy...I'm just gutted we live too far away to eat there more! We will be recommending both restaurant and hotel to friends and family. All staff were friendly, pleasant and helpful, from housekeeping to front of house. We hope to come back sometime.
