"We were excited to stay in downtown Idar Oberstein since previously we had stayed a bit out of town. Sadly, the experience was lacking and bordered on depressing. I want to be quick to say that some of this is not the property's fault. Idar Oberstein is struggling like many small German cities within maintaining a vibrant downtown. That has had an impact on the property. In fact, the restaurant that used to be part of the hotel is no longer open which combines to limit dining choices for guests. The lack of life in the downtown has contributed to what felt like a property that was struggling to maintain itself. Few amenities were in the room in terms of soap and shampoo. The room was clean but there was hair in the bathroom. Front desk staffing was limited. The room itself was serviceable but furnishings were dated and one window shade was broken. Finally, there is no elevator in this property which makes it very difficult if you have lots of luggage as we did. It pains me to write this as I know that the property is dealing with some things beyond their control but I need to be honest."

"We had a lovely room where we stayed for 3 nights. It was quiet, comfortable and spacious. We were checked in by Sasha, who was a delight...he was helpful with information, with luggage, with reservations, and with a specially requested dinner. Patrick was also very knowledgable and helpful. We tried Idar-Oberstein's speciality called Speissbraten and rit was delicious. We recommend it as a must-try when visiting the area. The breakfasts and all the other meals at Parkhotel were well-prepared and tasty. The dining room is beautiful and the patio was such a nice spot to rest and relax (given we had warm-ish weather for October). We would stay here again without a doubt. Thank you, Sasha and Patrick"

"The hotel have a funny smell, like its an old hotel. If your checking in at night is terrible, the person who is there to help he shouted at us telling us we booked a cheap hotel which is closed not functioning well. It supposed to be closed 😕 why are we checking in late ? For God sake we got there by 3am we dont know where keys are, no details were sent to us, by trip.com ,reception is claiming she sends them to trip .com to give us, wasn't given we were stranded with a kid from airport, stayed upto 5am to be handed over the keys, no communication between them terrible. Wasn't a good holiday for us all ruined, the hotel is far from airport very far."

"We stayed here so we would be close to visit the Church in the Rock. Unfortunately the church was under renovation and we could not visit inside. We did take advantage of all the nearby hiking and found other ruins to explore so it ended up being a great day. The rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable. Like many hotels in Europe the shower was very small, but it worked great! The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The manager even went outside with me to assist in securing a parking space as parking is typically 300 meters away. We got a free spot right outside the front door."

Restaurant is simple but good, few choices to order but good. surroudning and to explore Idar-Oberstein this is a nice option if you don't want to stay in the centre.
