Madarao Kogen Hotel ★★★
"Although it is the official hotel of the ski resort, it does not located in a best "ski in ski out" place, you literally need to take a very slow chairlift to come back hotel after you finish the run in the main area at the end of the day. Room was very old and cold, heard a group of people loudly chatting in the room above room, went upstairs to check and confirmed about it, and it was 1:30 am, while you can't find any staff at the reception, i made couple of call to lobby by the phone in the room, finally got someone the answered it, i clearly explained the situation to him, hope he would do something, but sadly those people still talking and make noise with no change, and it happened once again in the next night, sign... Besides, even if you drive here, if there is a heavy snow fall at the night, you basically stuck here in the hotel got no where to go and no shops around."
Village Hill Jubankan ★★
"I was looking forward to the bath, but the temperature of the hot water was hot and it was difficult to get inside. My wife said she couldn't put it in the hot water after all. There is almost no water for men in the washroom, so repair is required. As for the meal, I ate soba, but other dishes were not praised. Also, the entrance was closed in the morning bath and I couldn't enter. The futon in the room was especially heavy with blankets and felt quite damp, so I couldn't rest slowly. It seems that an elderly man is cut alone."
Hotel Noble Iiyama ★★
"Quiet location, close to some authentic Japanese restaurants!"
Nabekura Kougen Mori-No-Ie ★★★★
"The place is fantastic for family vacation. We got there by train and the resort has arranged for a complimentary pick up. The cabin is nice and warm with a full functional kitchen (except for the microwave which kept tripping the circuit breaker). We ran out of food as we under estimated our appetite during winter. Unfortunately the centre house only serve coffee and hot soup, so we have to ration our bread on our last day of stay. My boys had fun playing with the snow and built 2 snowmen (the first one was destroyed by the blizzard on the 2nd day). We rented the snow shoes and tried to go trekking but failed as the snow was too thick. However we still had fun. We spent the nights in the cabin playing card games, something we didn’t have time to do when living in the city. Really enjoying the nice scenery and the wonder white Christmas."
Madarao Elm Pension ★★
"The hotel is close to the Banwei Plateau Ski Resort. The breakfast and dinner are also very delicious. They are cooked by the hotel couple and it feels like home."
Resort Inn Murata ★★
"The only thing to be picky about is that there is no toilet in the room, but everything else is basically OK."
Hotel Silk Inn Madarao ★★★
"If you are using this lodge to ski, you will need to pay 500 yen each time you leave your luggage in the locker before and after your stay (a total of 1000 yen). I have never heard of any other lodge for skiing that didn't offer free locker service. It's terrible. The evening meals are also very cheap. You can have more rice, so you can at least get full. The futon was very thin, thinner than the cushions in the room. The heating was on, so it wasn't cold even though the futon was thin. There is a large public bath, but no open-air bath. If you want to use the open-air bath, you have to pay. I think you need to rent a private open-air bath for 1650 yen for 45 minutes."
Ishidaya ★★
"I had a relaxing stay without meals. The hot water was excellent as always."
Blueberry Pension Madarao ★★
"Pension Blueberry is the quintessential Japanese Pension, warm, cozy, wonderful owners and staff. A short walk to ski slopes, great breakfast and dinners. In addition there is apartment accommodation for four guests in ultra modern Japanese architect designed luxury. If you have a family or group of four ask about the apartment, it will be well worth it."
