"This was our first time here, my boyfriend and I went for aromatherapy massages and were very impressed! They showed us to the change room where there were gowns and slippers waiting for us and once inside the room the ladies that massaged us were very professional, always asking if the pressure was good and if we were comfortable. They even had hot blankets on under the towel so you don’t get cold! They let us choose the oil they massaged us with which i appreciated! An hour is definitely not long enough! We will have to come back another time for a spa package as their prices are very reasonable. They have lovely grounds that you can browse from the parking area (even a little place to take photos that says you’ve been to Granny Mouse) Definitely recommend visiting - Whether its for a stay, spa or to eat at their restaurant!"

"The bush lodge is nestled just outside of the town and easy to access. The town has your usual shops and offers a few places where you can dine out during your stay and is just off the main freeway. From the moment you arrive at the main gates till you settle into your tastefully furnished cottage, you can feel the charm of the countryside. The views of the misty rolling hills from any part of this well-maintained lodge, especially your rooms and the main facilities are stunning. Take a walk to the waterfall and take it all in and then come back to a heart English breakfast catered for by friendly and caring staff. it's also a fantastic place to host a function or wedding with ample parking and in a secure setting. This place is a must on anyone's bucket list if you love 5 stars treatment in the countryside at a very affordable rate. We will be back, hopefully sooner than later "

"7 years ago was our first visit on an overnight package. 13 February 2026 we just popped in for a day package. Delighted to see Fourdoun still going strong with many lovely upgrades. The floatation tank remains the main attraction for me. The aroma theraphy massage was FIRST CLASS. A lovely light lunch. Each part of the package gets a 10/10. Wonderful, warm and welcoming staff and relaxing setting. We will be back asap."

"My experience at Hawklee Country House was overall positive; however, there are a few areas for potential improvement. Firstly, the reservation did not include any meal provisions, necessitating that guests organize their own dining arrangements. Incorporating inclusive meal plans or, at the very least, providing breakfast options would greatly enhance convenience and contribute to a more seamless guest experience. Secondly, during the New Year’s countdown from midnight until approximately 11:00 am, we experienced a complete lack of network reception. This absence of connectivity limited our ability to share content on social media during this momentous occasion. Ensuring reliable network access, particularly during significant events, would significantly improve the stay for guests wishing to share their experiences in real time. Addressing these areas could further elevate the experience for future guests at Hawklee Country House."

"I travel on business weekly and always look for a Southern Sun Hotel before any other, I stay at Southern Suns across the country and I must say this is the worst one I have ever encountered. From requesting an iron and ironing board and no one pitching, to calling reception and the phone ringing forever without answer, to the shocking food served at breakfast (probably yesterday's lunch leftovers), to being sent a broken iron and being told there is no other iron so I had to iron with a leaking iron which made my suit and shirt wet. There were so many awful experiences at this Southern Sun, and inexplicably it is more expensive than one of the best Southern Suns in the country (Southern Sun Waterfront - Cape Town). I will definitely not be back. In fact I'm considering cancelling my rewards card and joining Protea card and taking my business there. Unfortunately I had already booked and paid for 5 nights at this Southern Sun, it was an awful experience. I have taken time before completing this survey because I wanted to be as objective as possible but there is no running away from some sad truths. You have a very long way to go as a hotel Southern Sun PMB."

"Wensleydale Guest Lodge, let me start off by saying - You were an absolute treat! From the moment I made my reservation up until the moment I checked out I was treated like absolute royalty. The management team, Marita & Kimberleigh, were phenomenal. The level of professionalism is unmatched and were so helpful and so friendly. Upon my check-in I was directed to local shopping centre's, nearest restaurants as well as informed of local food delivery businesses. When shown to my unit (Honeymoon Pool Suite), I walked in and was met with THE most immaculate suite. The décor is absolutely stunning, everything was clean and the linen smelt like it had just come from a professional laundromat. I am beyond impressed with my stay. The complimentary refreshments basket and toiletries upon arrival was also a lovely treat as some self-catering establishments don't offer such a wide variety of items if anything at all. Not to mention how lovely to have a small private garden off the bedroom overlooking the swimming pool area. I couldn't help but go for a walk around the establishment and noticed how beautifully maintained the grounds are. Grass greener than anything I've seen, even better smelling that the grass had been freshly mowed. The bird life, amazing! You would never say you are right in the middle of Pietermaritzburg, the tranquillity of Wensleydale Guest Lodge is on another level. I truly enjoyed my stay! The only thing I would suggest is that a new lick of paint here and there would really be the cherry on top and maybe looking into industrial ceiling fans, they work much better than standing fans. All in all, Wensleydale Guest Lodge, I will definitely be back and I will be mentioning you to all friends and family!"
