"Our family of four stayed at the Ronca Grand Hotel for an extended stay.
Pros:
1. Comfortable cottage-style stay: Staying in a detached cottage was perfect for an extended stay with children. There was also space for the kids to play in the garden, so we could relax without worrying about other guests.
2. Cleanliness and complete facilities: As the hotel was newly built in 2024, everything was very clean and new. Having a washing machine and free detergent in the room was really helpful for our extended stay. There was also a refrigerator and microwave, so we could prepare snacks conveniently.
3. Friendly staff: Many staff members spoke Chinese, English, and Japanese, so we had no problems. They were very kind to our children, making our whole family comfortable. They were flexible and able to accommodate our needs when we needed them during our extended stay.
4. Quiet and natural environment: Located on a hill, the quiet environment surrounded by greenery allowed us to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Waking up to the sounds of birds in the morning was a great way to enjoy nature.
5. Free Parking (Beware of Space): We drove our own car. The parking lot was free and convenient, but the space itself seemed a bit small. We managed to find a spot, but you may need to be a little careful with larger vehicles or when it's crowded.
Minor Concerns (for reference):
1. Location Requires a Car: Supermarkets and restaurants are about a 5-10 minute drive away, so you'll definitely need a rental car or your own car. Access to tourist destinations (Nagasaki, Unzen, etc.) also requires a car.
2. Food Options: Breakfast was delicious, but it may get a bit monotonous with longer stays. For dinner, we generally went out or prepared light meals in the room. On-site barbecues are weather dependent.
Summary:
”This was a wonderful hotel, especially recommended for those looking for a relaxing, long-term stay with the family in nature.” The cottage-style rooms offer a high level of privacy, the clean and practical facilities, and the friendly, multilingual staff greatly reduced the stress of long-term stays with children. Although you will need to travel by car, I think it's the perfect base for a leisurely tour of the Nagasaki/Shimabara area. I would like to use it again if I have the opportunity."
