"Overall a great stay. The biggest advantage is the convenience. It is truly ski in ski out, which makes it very easy to access the slopes without needing to travel anywhere. The slopes here are also very beginner friendly. They are not too steep, which makes it a comfortable place to learn or practice skiing. I also took a 2 hour private ski lesson arranged through the hotel. Our instructor, Yuki, was very friendly, patient, and encouraging, which made the learning experience enjoyable. The only downside was the food. Both the dinner and breakfast buffet had quite limited variety, and the taste was just average. Considering the price we paid, the food did not feel very worth it. Overall, it is still a good place to stay if you want convenience and easy access to beginner friendly slopes. Just do not expect too much from the buffet."

"I really want to speak up for the Ritz! Don't blindly trust negative reviews online; experiencing it yourself is the most authentic way to judge. The environment is absolutely stunning, every corner is picture-perfect! The toiletries are also thoughtful and excellent. All the staff, especially the Chinese-speaking young lady at the front desk, were incredibly warm, humble, and polite! As part of the EDITION series and being in Hokkaido, the hotel is incredibly meticulous. Not only does it have many fantastic restaurants, but there's also a beautiful little town next door with cheap and delicious food! You'll find everything you need for dining, shopping, and sightseeing. Thank you, Ritz, for making our vacation so warm and comfortable!"

"## Location Starting from Hakodate in the morning, we checked into this Hilton in Niseko, using it as a base for a day trip to Shakotan Peninsula and Cape Kamui. The hotel is located in the Hirafu area, making it very convenient to drive to View Plaza, Takahashi Farm, and the Hirafu village gondola area. It's a well-established five-star ski hotel in the core Niseko resort area. ## Staff A high percentage of the staff across various departments are of South Asian descent. They are generally warm and polite, with fluent English, though slightly accented. Slowing down your speech makes for smooth communication. The check-out process is a bit cumbersome, typical of older resort hotels with more procedures. During check-out, staff proactively ask about your onward travel plans and even print out formal accommodation tax receipts in an envelope. ## Dining (Both breakfast and dinner buffets require reservations) The buffet restaurant is enormous, a standard for a five-star hotel, with an extensive variety of dishes. However, both breakfast and dinner have a distinct Southeast Asian flavor that we found rather peculiar and not particularly tasty. It's essential to book your dining slots for both breakfast and dinner in advance, as it can be difficult to get a table if you try to book last minute. We recommend booking as soon as you check in. The restaurant gets very busy, with many Korean tour groups, and the public areas can occasionally be a bit noisy. ## Room Experience We booked two deluxe rooms, one king and one family room. The rooms were exceptionally spacious, a rare find in Japanese hotels, and offered great value for money at just over 1,000 yuan (approximately $150 USD) per night during the summer. • The rooms have been renovated, and the air conditioning is comfortably cool. The oversized panoramic windows offer superb mountain views, directly overlooking the golf course (which becomes the ski slope in winter). • The layout features a separate wet and dry area, with the washbasin located outside the bathroom. However, the toilet area itself is on the smaller side and hasn't been renovated, looking a bit old and cramped. • We requested high-floor, quiet rooms in advance. Our two rooms were located at the near ends of the corridors on either side of the elevator (avoiding corner rooms). The hotel's corridors are curved and extremely long, making daily trips to the restaurant and onsen quite a walk and physically demanding. • Hairdryers are not provided in the rooms; guests must use them in the onsen area. The onsen changing room only has two hairdryer stations, which are underpowered and make it difficult to dry hair, often resulting in queues. • Two bottles of drinking water with good packaging quality are provided daily in the room. ## Public Onsen & Shortcomings The onsen facilities don't quite match a five-star rating. The overall size of the pools is relatively small, and the shower/changing area is cramped. The lockers and storage designs are very basic, a noticeable contrast compared to the several Japanese onsen ryokans we stayed at on this trip. The hotel lobby is grand and spacious with high ceilings, and its red decor gives it an impressive feel. There's a small souvenir shop on-site with reasonable prices, not overly inflated. ## Overall Summary This is a classic, well-run five-star resort hotel with an impressive lobby, huge guest rooms, and excellent views. It offers great value for summer stays and is a popular ski accommodation in winter. Its strengths include warm staff, a convenient location, and spacious, quiet rooms. The drawbacks are the peculiar-tasting food that requires advance reservations, somewhat subpar onsen facilities, the lack of in-room hairdryers requiring queuing in the public area, the long and tiring walks along the corridors, and a slight sense of noise due to tour groups. Overall, the experience doesn't quite measure up to some of the smaller, more niche Japanese ryokans."

"This is a family trip for two adults and two kids. And we stayed in the hotel for 7 nights, bfast and dinner included. It's apparent in the booking that we will have kids in the stay, and yet either Trip.com/hotel charged us meals for 4 adults for the entire trip. We ended up overpaying A LOT and wasting A LOT of food because the kids couldn't finish the set meal. Yet the hotel refused to adjust / refund. This was a serious mistake made by Trip.com / hotel. The hotel provided shuttle bus to the ski resort. Good that there was early shuttle bus around 815am BUT the return shuttle was way too early (4pm) for any serious skiers. The hotel should offer more options. There was no gym in the hotel and difficult to do some proper full-body exercise. Onsen set up was nice and clean and tidy. The public onsen wasn't used much so it ended up a big private onsen for us. We like the traditional Japanese cusine but very disappointed that the chef provided limited changes on the menu during our 7 nights of stay. We spent roughly same number of nights elsewhere in Niseko and the design of their menu was way better. Staff in general was very helpful and friendly and some of them spoke English and Chinese. The hotel was short of staff IMO. I could see them running around in the hotel. The ski equipment room could be equipped with better facility to dry ski boots and gloves. Shuttle bus was only offered to Niseko but not Kutchan station which was in fact not too far away anyway. The room was clean and well maintained. The location of the hotel was great too. It's 10mins from the Niseko station and 5mins from annupuri ski run."

"Location is a little bit away from the ski lifts but they do have a shuttle bus although I wish there were more bus timings. Staff were friendly and helpful although not all speak English. Buffet breakfast was nice. We tried the dinner on two nights and they were quite similar. Dinner was a bit on the expensive side so would not recommend eating there mutiple nights in a row due to the lack of variety. There is a small course section to the dinner and then a buffet but I’d prefer more of a kaiseki style course with quality over quantity. Absolutely loved the live music every night from 7:39-8:30pm. Rooms were clean and comfortable. There is a bus that stops outside the hotel for travellers taking the coach from the airport/sapporo. The local bus to the train station also stops outside. Onsen was a bit too hot for my liking but it was a nice size."

"This was my first stay at Sanu Niseko. Although it was a short one night stay, I was very happy with the experience. The property was extremely well designed, amenitized, and fitted out. Although the space was not very big, it was right sized and very comfortable. The various appliances and equipment (sound, video projector) were great touches and set up the visitor for a full experience. This was not just a hotel or villa property, but a getaway resort experience, or glamping plus plus. Everything worked, and was designed and placed logically. The sauna arrangement was perfect, and the skylights a delightful addition. I look forward to returning with my family."

"My daughter and I arrived here for one night and found our stay very comfortable and luxurious, although it was only a brief visit. The room was a great size and the beds were very comfortable. Unfortunately we were unable to add an additional guest for dinner that evening, who was also staying in the resort so instead we chose to cancel dinner and eat out all together. Similarly we were also unable try the food at breakfast as we arrived just before 9am, but were too late so please ensure you arrive with plenty of time to go. I would have liked a longer time there to try the food and also the Onsen as the hotel was lovely."

This hotel is not recommended if not by car. It is far from the main ski areas. But their service is nothing to say. The shuttle buses once an hour. The rooms are super clean, the scenery is nice, very quiet, good luck and you can see foxes. The staff are very patient and have questions and answers. I have a little problem in the itinerary. They all helped us book the car and pick us up. If I drive, I will definitely come back.

There is a Gaoqiao Ranch near the hotel, about 10 minutes' walk away. The environment is very good, but the transportation is not very convenient. The kitchenware and facilities are very complete, especially suitable for a family or friends to travel. You can buy a lot of meat from the supermarket and cook it yourself, and you can also extend the check-out time appropriately. The price is a little expensive during the snow season, but it is still worth it.

From the moment we pulled up to The Green Leaf, we felt incredibly welcome. The level of service here is personal and sincere; I was so impressed that the staff took the time to remember my name. It creates such a 'homey' and inviting atmosphere that is hard to find elsewhere. If you want a stay where you feel like a valued guest rather than just a room number, this is the place to be!

The plus point of this hotel is the outdoor mixed gender onsen. The location is inconvenient, although there is shuttle bus provided but limited time slot. There is no convenience store or restaurant nearby. I was advised the late check out rate at ¥3300 per hour but I was confused when 1 of the staff advised another guest at ¥2200 per hour. Why double standard? I guess maybe it depends on the room type?

Fantastic environment just in front a ski resort with stunning view. Good carpark space for guests. Just happened it is snowing and the view is like a paradise. Rooms are on upstairs 1 floor, do request assistance from the helpful staff to assist you. All the staff is friendly, handsome and beautiful. Try to offer some Japanese food as that's what we expected, for breakfast and dinner. The cafe is beautiful, needs more marketing exposure.

The room is very unique. You must book a 4-person room, which is the kind of loft. There are ********* waiters who are very good at Chinese, English and Japanese👍. The boss is also very nice. It happened to be the peak season and there was a blizzard in Hokkaido, so all the buses to the airport were booked. The boss was very enthusiastic to help us check the bus to the airport, which was very nice. The dinner was also great, and you must book the dinner in advance🥣
