Niseko Northern Resort, An'Nupuri

Niseko Northern Resort, An'Nupuri ★★★★

📍 480-1, Abuta District, Niseko

"Location: Excellent. You can ski right to the side entrance, which is incredibly convenient. Service: Rather average. There's no shuttle bus from the JR station to the hotel... When I asked the front desk, they just said to 'take a taxi' (which cost almost 5000 yen). They didn't even proactively ask if I needed help calling a taxi. After I requested one, there was a long delay with no response. I had to call them myself to be told taxis were busy and couldn't be dispatched, so I ended up hailing a Didi myself. Credibility: None! One evening, I had to leave the restaurant early. My companion, who doesn't speak Japanese, was left alone and ordered a beer in English – just one. When the bill came, they had inexplicably added an extra beer and a glass of red wine (as shown on the receipt). My companion didn't look closely, assuming the extra charge was a service fee. We only discovered this days later when checking out. I don't want to waste time and effort arguing about it, but I'm giving everyone a heads-up."

Higashiyama Niseko Village, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Higashiyama Niseko Village, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve ★★★★★

"Niseko in summer has its own distinct advantages. It's less crowded, the air is fresh and cool, and hotel rates are significantly lower. The hotel's decor is tasteful and understated, reminiscent of a city Ritz-Carlton. With fewer rooms, the service is remarkably attentive. Breakfast is a hybrid of a set menu and a small buffet spread, which was quite satisfying. We found the dinner restaurant to have a somewhat limited kitchen and offer average value for money, so we chose to dine out for our evening meals. The location is wonderfully quiet. While we had a private car, even without one, the Hilton is just across the ski slope, so transport isn't an issue. A short walk of a few minutes takes you to a ski commercial area, where a few restaurants remain open even in summer. I imagine it's quite expensive in winter, but I do wonder if Niseko's skiing truly surpasses Hemu's? A major perk, of course, is that the hotel essentially has its own dedicated ski lift, offering absolute ski-in/ski-out convenience. It's significantly smaller, quieter, and much less crowded than the Park Hyatt. However, I highly recommend taking the gondola up there at night and then walking down to experience the beautifully designed light exhibition – it's truly stunning."

Niseko Goshiki Onsen Ryokan ★★★

📍 510 Niseko Nisekocho, Niseko

"The onsen and hotel was in a great location if you like to backcountry ski. The room was spacious and decently clean with pretty comfortable beds, though a bit hard. It is kind of far from any services so make sure to pack some extra snacks and beers. The chef was out on vacation while we stayed so we had to get dinner in town each night which was a lot of driving in pretty gnarly weather. Overall, our stay was great though! Would definitely stay again. Would make sure to include the dinner and breakfast in our next stay."

"Very clean and spacious. The breakfast and dinner are fabulous. You must make reservation for the dinner, it is worth the price. The outdoor onsen is nice, but make sure you reuse your towel."

Niseko Northern Resort, An'Nupuri ★★★★
"The room was quite spacious, but the view was very ordinary. The surroundings were quite desolate, with nothing much to do besides skiing. This time, my experience wasn't as good as before. There were flying insects in the room at night, which was a bit scary 👻."

"The staff are not knowledgeable on 3rd party ski hire or ski school. We returned the equipment 1 day earlier and the staff said ok and asked if we are fine with 50% refund. We said yes. The next day they said they never said this.....no English, and don't ask questions, they will not be able to answer. They are well mannered and kind, just no direction and very messy. Bus schedule is also confusing, staff are not clear and busses don't often come without calling and reminding. They say it is due to weather condition, but it wasn't. You need to book set menu dinners at their one and only restaurant, 3 days in advance. We missed the Christmas set dinner, and even though on the phone to reserve the table, we asked for set menu, they didn't decline and they didn't say we needed 3 day advance notice. So we went and ordered small alacarte meals. Small dishes but were absolutely delicious. Hot Spring facility is excellent. Rooms are clean and the layout is fantastic. They have a washing machine that dries as well. Bring your own laundry detergent But I must give 100% credit to them as we left our bag at the lobby and they arranged to send it to Tokyo for us and called the receiving hotel as well,."

"Facilities: I booked a private bath suite and was very satisfied. The room was large and comfortable, and you could take a bath and watch the snow at any time. It was like heaven on earth. Hygiene: You need to take off your shoes to enter the entire hotel, which is spotless. Environment: The surrounding environment is very quiet, with heavy snow and gurgling water. The details inside the hotel are great, the layout, furniture, light, furnishings... every place makes people happy. Service: Very good experience! Everyone is gentle and smiling. Especially "Zhou Yi", which is impressive💯Introduced us a lot of local allusions and ingredients, details of wine, very good👍🏻 Niseko, see you next year. I will choose Konbu Onsen Tsuruga again!"

"Very clean rooms, outdoor onsen some organic matter but mostly ok. Though they tried to close breakfast early on us one morning. 3 people including myself didn't get the full breakfast buffet. Parking is about 10 spaces or so. I went in late March, away from peak season so was enough."

Niseko Goshiki Onsen Ryokan ★★★
"This is the most memorable hot spring I've been to recently. The beautiful scenery around the mountain cabin, the simple nature of the open-air bath, and the quiet mountain atmosphere were all the best. The breakfast is simple and the management is elderly, so the cleaning is not good. There are no places to eat nearby and the only stores available are snacks, so you have to order or have dinner in advance."
