It was out of our expectation. It is a standalone apartment that has everything you need. It is better to register all the guest’s information online via the email. That will make your check-in more convenient. We were impressed with the backyard. We planned to have dinner there. Unfortunately, it was cold and raining. We definitely wanna stay there again. It’s at a very great location, close to the shopping center, and the bus stop of Kumano hiking, just in a few mins walk. Even you don’t do hiking, it is also good for a bunch of friends for a retreat.

Beyond imagination, it was so much fun, truly perfect for summer! My kids loved digging for hot springs by the river, and for the first time, they actually enjoyed soaking in them. It's a shame we didn't bring swimsuits and floats, otherwise, we could have had a water fight! Dinner was also good; although the variety wasn't huge, there was enough to eat. The service was excellent, and the hotel was very clean. The only minor complaint is that the dryer didn't quite get clothes completely dry even after half an hour, so I wasn't entirely satisfied with the dryer.

Very close to the station and Kumano Ancient Road entrance, the whole is relatively new, there is an elevator suitable for people who pull boxes, although it is a public toilet sink and bathing place, but the sanitary conditions are very good, provide Japanese breakfast and dinner, rich and delicious, very comfortable stay experience

The room was lovely, with a Japanese style. I booked this guesthouse for two nights because I was planning to hike the Kumano Kodo Chuhero route. The owner was very welcoming and attentive. The guesthouse had onsen facilities and offered restaurant reservations, but I was too tired to eat after the hike. There was a bus stop right outside the guesthouse, making it convenient to go to Chikaro-oji, Kyogawa, and Oguchi.

Review of Hanayo Garden Hotel Shirahama, Japan Located in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture, the hotel boasts a prime location nestled between the mountains and the sea, about an 8-10 minute walk from Shirahama Beach. Hanayo Garden Hotel is a secluded retreat in Shirahama Onsen, renowned for its ocean view hot springs, fresh seafood, and family-friendly amenities. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy a slow-paced holiday of ”soaking in hot springs, watching the sea, and eating seafood”, this place is worth including in your list.

Nice sharing areas like pantry, living room, sink corners and bathrooms. There are 3 hot springs in which one is outdoor. Overall great experience. Whole hostel very thoughtful laid out and arranged. If arriving at night by car, it is quite dark after 8pm and shall allow more time. Check in closed at 8pm.

On the Kumano Kodo (Kumano Kodo Trail), near the Kawayu stop, the onsen hotel I chose is right across from a natural river bath. The hotel offers free shovels so you can dig your own bath in the river. I recommend bringing a swimsuit. The hotel also has its own indoor and outdoor public onsen. I booked a room that included the outdoor bath. Staying only one night might be a bit too much. I booked a one-night, two-meal package. Without meals in the mountains, you'd probably only be able to eat instant noodles. The Kumano beef served here was excellent. There's also a dedicated bus stop at the entrance with direct buses to Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine and Shingu.

An old hot spring hotel located at the innermost of Tangfeng Hot Spring Street. You need to climb a small slope. Those with suitcases need to pay attention. You should be able to ask the hotel to pick you up. The hotel room is spacious and the facilities are a bit old, but the hygiene is good, the service staff is lovely, the dinner is also a standard Japanese set meal, the large bathroom has open-air and indoor, the water temperature is hot enough, you can recover your physical strength very well, and there is a car to take you to the bus station of Tangfeng Street in the morning.

Kumano Honno is the hometown of hot springs. It includes Tangzhifeng Hot Spring, Chuantang Hot Spring, and Duyu Hot Spring. Compared with the famous Chuantang Hot Spring, the Duyu Hot Spring Hotel we booked is more niche and quieter in a small mountain. The hotel has three floors, each floor is 10 and the foreign room. We arrived at the hotel at 1 pm. There was no regular told to check in after 3:00. We were very enthusiastic to help us check in and introduce the soup rules. The room is large, twin bed + tatami, facing the river bank, the window is cherry blossoms. There are two hotels and four soup pools, you can soak, there is the largest open-air wind in Western Japan and the Japanese family special loan cut open-air wind. The dinner was very delicate and the breakfast was very delicate.

The room was very clean. The landlady was kind and could communicate in Chinese using a translation software. I ordered her breakfast for 800 yen and it was very comfortable. I didn’t know what to choose from the meal. I just ate what she made and I was very satisfied. This B&B can pick you up from the station. I don’t speak Japanese, so I can only walk there. When I left, she drove me to the station. I liked it very much! The bus runs twice a day, and it’s difficult to take a taxi. The pick-up and drop-off is very pleasant.
