There is plenty of off-road parking. This is a 3 story house with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. You enter on the middle floor, which has a master bedroom with Queen sized bed, and a Master bath with shower/bathtub, stained glass windows. This floor also has the fully equipped kitchen, dining room and cathedral ceiling/window living room. The Lanai is off the kitchen.The upstairs has a loft bedroom with two queens (open air to the living room and the large cathedral ceiling below-access like normal room/NOT a ladder!) and another bedroom with two twin beds, as well as a bathroom with a beautifully tiled shower. The bottom floor has a studio suite with a king sized bed and a queen Murphy bed and another bedroom with a queen sized bed, a twin trundle bed (2 twins) and a laundry room.This property is located immediately next door to The Sacred Garden (with two walking labyrinths, succulent gardens, water gardens, meditation gardens) and is where we (the owners) live, so you have easy access to us if you need anything but with plenty of privacy. There are other long term tenants and farm workers on the 8.5 acre farm.The property is in close proximity to World-Class Kite and Windsurfing at Ho'okipa and the famous Jaws big surf site. Great hiking trails are just 3 miles away. Haliimaile General Store and Mama's Fish House are minutes away. Haleakala National Park is only 50 minutes away.We are 2 miles to Makawao Town restaurants and shops, 3 miles to Haiku Town, 5 Miles to Paia Town and Baldwin Beach. The airport is only 15-20 minutes away but you will feel like you are far away from it all in this absolutely peaceful garden setting. We have a working diversified farm using organic practice. Access to this property and our adjacent property, The Sacred Garden, allows you to go on walks through 8.5 acres of an incredible tropical setting. We will happily offer a tour so you can learn about Hawaiian plants, coffee production, water lilies, etc.. We have mango, coconuts, coffee, papaya, lemon, tangerine, bananas, avocados, lilikoi (passion fruit) macadamia nuts, lychee, breadfruit, and flowers galore—haleconia, bird of paradise, and ginger. Different flowering trees take turns blooming so the valley is constantly featuring a different splash of color. While our cancellation policy is "No refund" we are happy to refund bookings if we are able to re-book the dates.Gardening classes are also available upon request. We also offer labyrinth walks, water lily classes and succulent classes. There is a seasonal stream running through the property so from time to time there is the additional treat of a stream—(or a river!) running through the yard. The elevation is about 1100 feet which is PERFECT on Maui! We are about 10 degrees cooler than sea level which makes for absolutely comfortable days (70-80 degrees) and GREAT temps for sleeping (usually in the 60's). This is the MAXIMUM elevation you can stay and still go scuba diving on Maui. Speaking of diving...we are avid divers and photographers.You will definitely want a rental car....there is a bus stop a mile or two away but not ideal....and bikes are a little hazardous as these are hilly, windy, narrow roads. This renovated and adorable "Gingerbread House" is a studio cottage nestled amongst beautiful trees and tropical flowers and an organic farm growing Turmeric, Ginger, Papaya, Tangerines, Avocado, Oranges, Lemons, Grapefruit, Macadamia Nuts, Lychee, coffee and tropical flowers. The cottage is a "tiny home" (220 sq ft) but has high ceilings with a huge window looking out onto the majestic trees. Fully equipped kitchenette, beautifully tiled bathroom, and cedar lined walls. There is internet inside the cottage as well as 3 other systems accessible ON the property both indoors and out that is available to you. We are located in a gulch/valley so cell service is better in some spots on the property than others. We use our cell phones almost exclusively without issue.The kitchenette is has a coffee maker, microwave, burners, toaster oven and full sized fridge. The bathroom is beautifully tiled and the entire cottage is lined with cedar. There is a seasonal stream flowing just 50 feet from the cottage with a great spot to sit and sip on coffee or well as an outside table and lanai with a chiminea (outdoor fire chimney). The Cottage has a queen sized bed.On the adjacent property is The Sacred Garden (free and open to the public) that is a beautiful sanctuary and nursery with two labyrinths, meditation gardens, picnic accessible to our guests. Jimi Hendrix stayed her in 1970 when he was on Maui filming "Rainbow Bridge". The previous owner was a big wave surfer that Jimi was partying with while on Maui....We also have a 5 bedroom genuine log house on the property that is also a vacation rental if you have a larger group and want to stay on the property. This property will feel like you are "away from it all" when you are actually only minutes from shops and restaurants. Makawao Town is just 2 miles away, Haiku Town 3 miles, Paia town about 6 miles and the airport (and Costco) is just 15-20 minutes. There is a beautiful beach about 12 minutes drive away, great hiking 10 minutes away and Haleakala National Park is just 50 minutes from here. We are located at about 1100 feet in elevation so it is 10 degrees cooler than sea level which makes it perfect weather nearly all year round. (60's at night, 60-80's in the day). We are on the boarder of the "wet side" which makes for lots of be rainy at certain cozy, green, lush and you can almost always drive to where it is not raining. This is a beautiful jewel of a house. It's all one level and close to shopping, activities such as hiking, biking, zip lines, farm tours, horseback riding, art school, dining and Haleakala National Park. Just an eight to ten minute drive to white sand beaches.This 19.89 acre shade-grown coffee farm borders a forest preserve and is completely private. A stream runs through the property attracting a variety of wildlife. There are amazing panoramic ocean, jungle and mountain views and a seasonal waterfall view. Guests have the option of booking a personal tour of the farm and grounds which includes a short hike to see the ancient Hawaiian pictographs, an artesian spring and gives an overview where all the private trails, natural pools and picnic areas are. Swimming is an option during the times the stream is flowing sufficiently. Reservations include full access to all the grounds and amenities on the farm. The cottage is located over a mile from the main farmhouse and is completely private. Not wheelchair accessible though!Guests have access after they’ve had the tour to miles of private trails on the grounds of Maliko Estate Coffee where the cottage is located. Swimming in the stream when it’s flowing is a highlight. Great bird watching too!Guests may be greeted upon arrival, offered a jungle tour and are bid farewell on departure day too. Owners are nearby if they're needed and have advice and recommendations for Maui activities.The historic paniolo town of Makawao is only 2 miles away. The paniolo are the Hawaiian cowboys and they still can be seen riding their horses or stopping by the local cantinas for a beer after riding the upcountry ranches. Great shopping and dining is found in Makawao, Haiku and nearby Paia. Makawao is considered one of the best art scenes in the nation.You will definitely need a car. You won't need a four-wheel drive though. The roads are fine. There is bus transportation but not near the farm which is too rural and uncrowded for a bus stop.Owner Sydney Smith is a designer by trade and also a farmer.
