Please note, that both clubs have added an administrative fee of $100 if your temporary membership is not processed 7-10 days before your arrival. Starting in 2022, the Clubs are now charging per person, per week for anyone 6 years and older using the Club (instead of the per bedroom charge covering the house). In high season & many holidays, the Shoal’s Club is closed to temporary members on Mondays & the BHI Club is closed to temporary members on Saturdays & Sundays. Shoal’s Club paperwork can be done directly on their website, and you can pay the club directly with your credit card at the time you sign up or by phone at least 7 days before you arrive. The Club’s website has information about the services, activities, and the dining options they offer. It is updated fairly regularly & changes frequently. We were hoping to do Friday to Friday or Sunday to Sunday rentals in order to avoid Saturday to Saturday rentals which are so (maybe too) popular. We thought many guests might want to avoid the most popular turnover day, for ease of ferry and tram reservations/booking, etc. The lines for the ferries are much more crowded on Saturday. However, we are flexible if you prefer Saturday. We encourage you to consider Friday to Friday, another weekday, or Sunday.Starting with the first week of June 2023, the ferry ticketing system has become electronic, with the ability to make reservations for each ferry. Here is a link to their website and frequently asked questions:https://www.baldheadislandferry.com/faq-new/You can also purchase electronic tickets by downloading their app, found by searching “bald head island” in the App Store. The tickets can be stored in your Apple wallet. If you are flying into RDU or Wilmington ILM, and don’t want to rent a car just to leave it at the ferry parking lot (and pay for that daily parking), we have a list of drivers that can take you and your friends/family to and from ILM or RDU and the ferry. If you forget anything, or want to pick up some items that are not convenient to fly with, we have drivers that will stop on the way. We can’t wait to welcome you to our home.We welcome any questions you may have. And now, “Things we thought we’d never need to write in the house instructions”for $1,000, Alex:1. Do not sit on the roof of the house or the crofter. 2. GOLF CARTS: Do not drive the golf carts on the beach or off road. Please be very mindful of the tires. Golf cart tires are not meant to be driven on streets in general, and there has been a lot of construction on the island lately, so there are nails and other sharp debris; drive carefully. You are responsible for any popped tires, and any unusual wear and tear to the tires. You must have a valid drivers’ license, and be 16 or older to operate a golf cart. Do not drive golf carts or bikes under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Please hose off the golf carts when you are finished with them and remove any trash.3. There is a hose by the garage, and another one by the front door, for your feet, your children’s feet, your dog’s feet, and anything else that went to the beach that is not going to stay in the garage or outside.4. Beach toys & Garage items: please feel free to use any beach toys, beach chairs, beach towels, casting nets, etc. that you find, but please return them hosed off and where you found them. We are happy to share these items with you, but we can’t continue, if you don’t respect them. In the cooler months, there is a bin full of golf cart blankets to the left of the carts in the garage.5. Please respect our games, books, china, crystal, and nice linens. We want to share these items with you, but we can only continue to do so if you return them how you found them in generally the same place. It’s easy if you take a photo.6. If you choose to rearrange the furniture, please put it back how you found it.7. Please do not put food on the walls or under furniture or mattresses.8. All recycling should be taken to the recycling center by the dump and Public Safety, near the Market. Recycling is not picked up by the trash people on Bald Head Island. From both the front door and the screened porch you enter the main living area with plenty of natural light coming from the 2 story living room which flows into the large eat in dining area with a built in bench and a new, fully stocked gourmet kitchen. This is purchased by you directly through the club for an additional fee. This is the pool.We purchased this home in 2020 and have completely renovated and newly furnished each space in the home to bring beauty and tranquility to your vacation. All linens are professionally serviced and provided with your stay and there are new luxury hybrid mattresses in each bedroom. We are excited to share our love of Bald Head Island and especially our special place on the island with you! A personal note from the owners:Welcome to our little piece of Paradise, Palm Paradise! We live in Apex, North Carolina just outside of Raleigh and we have six children ages 18, 16, 14, 12, 10 and 5, three boys and three girls. We have been coming to Bald Head Island for the past 8 years. We are so grateful that we found Bald Head Island when our children were small. They have had the chance to grow up coming here, there is no other place like Bald Head Island. It is a very special place for us.When we step onto the Ferry we leave behind the chaos of our daily lives and Bald Head Island is a place we can be fully present. There is something special about having no cars and being fully immersed in nature that allows you to breath and just be. As soon as we arrive our children are off on their own exploring on their bikes and enjoying freedom to be kids in nature. We spend our days at the beaches playing games, surfing and making sand castles, then we head over to the club and spend late afternoons playing in the pool, playground and sunbathing while grabbing some pre dinner snacks. We usually have something in the crockpot or eat dinner at one of the restaurants at the club or marina. We round out our evenings with family games around the dining room table or we all sit on the huge sectional and watch a movie together. There's always a trip or two to the market and shopping is a regular stop for the girls at the four clothing shops, of which thier favorite is Island Passage. The ice cream stops are a daily bike ride for us all! My kids favorite is the loco pops at the marina while we watch the yachts roll in and out. The kids usually pair off and go on their own for these adventures. We often go watch the sunsets together and the teenagers love these Instagram photos! There is the weekly Turtle Trot 5k, which is open to everyone and benefits the Conservancy (plus you get a great t-shirt for participating). You can follow all of the turtle nest hatchings and excavations, which is an incredible opportunity for all ages to experience nature firsthand. There are bird outings, kayaking, surfing, paddle boarding, fishing and even night rides to monitor the sea turtle nests with the interns. There are countless activities through the BHI Club as well, from kids' camps, to family games and holiday special events. After all of this activity, don't forget there is a full-service spa to pamper you, too!Over the years we have created our rhythms of activities we do on the island, as well as quiet time too. We spent time on the porch listening to the waves and watching the sunsets. Our little ones love to climb the ancient oaks surrounding the house. This time with our family is priceless. When we are on the island time goes slower and is more intentional. We are so grateful to have this small part of the island as our own and are excited to share it with you. This is our vacation home, and we have prepared it to make it yours as well. We have rented many homes on the island, and have learned what we believe a great vacation home should have. We have worked hard to ensure our home has all the luxuries that we would want in an exceptional beach vacation home. As a parent of 6 I would know what it’s like to haul all the stuff this sized family would need for a successful beach vacation and I have tried to minimize this for our guests.About pets:Pets allowed: dogs less than 50 lbs per pet (limit one pet total).About checkOut:Check out before 10:00 AM.About children:Children allowed: ages 0-17.About checkIn:Check in after 4:00 PM.About smoking:Smoking is not permitted.About minBookingAge:Minimum age to rent: 21.About events:No events allowed.
