There are several advantages to being located a few minutes away from the slopes: many people that stay 'on the slopes' or in a 'ski-in/ski-out' condo or home say the constant ski traffic of cars is bothersome and the loud whine from the snow-blowing machines which are running 24hours per day can affect sleep.Banner Elk, Sugar Mountain is not only the best for winter snow skiing, it makes a great vacation year round. It is close to all that the High Country area offers, such as skiing/snowboarding, snow tubing, hiking, waterfalls, whitewater rafting, golfing, tennis, wineries, fine local restaurants, and of course, the Blue Ridge Parkway! A few minutes drive gets you to any of the area attractions such as Grandfather Mountain, Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster, Linville Falls, Tweetsie Railroad, etc.Enjoy a morning with coffee or an evening sunset on the 300 square foot deck with a 180 degree mountain view, The main living area has a million dollar view to the west, widescreen TV, a table that seats six, a bar with barstools, and a bistro table with two barstools as well.
