"Paid 180 USD a night, but wasn't even worth 100... rooms old and tiny, literally no space for your luggage. Shower hardly any water coming out, changing temperature constantly. VERY loud! You can hear every word that is spoken in the rooms next to you... breakfast ok but nothing special. Much better options for much less money available."

Isamar Hotel

"This island hotel is a real gem. When checking into our room, I was extremely distressed when I realized the AC was not working (it was in the mid 80's and quite humid outside). I told the front desk and they said all the rooms were full, but they would have the maintenance man come by. We were booked for a 3 day stay and I was mentally melting down thinking that on a small island, what were the chances that this could be resolved in a timely manner? To my surprise and delight, the maintenance man had a new room AC until installed and working perfectly within 2-3 hours. I was amazed and forever grateful as we had a packed schedule and needed sleep! In addition to that, the hotel staff were all pleasant and accomodating. The patio was delightful with lounge chairs, tables and a beautiful view. The rooms were very clean. I highly recommend this hotel!"

Casita de la Playa ★★★
"Casita De La Playa We were scheduled to stay here for 2 nights and explore the island of Isabela. We decided to cut short our stay, skip one of the excursions and leave for Santa Cruz a day earlier. Want to know why? Read on. This “hotel” was recommended by the tour agency we had used for our entire Ecuador trip and it was marketed as a “fully refurbished 3-star ocean facing hotel”. Let me tell you - the only thing true about that statement is ocean facing. As a top tier airline flyer and Bonvoy Ambassador, I have lived in hotels and this shack is not a hotel. This place is a hostel for backpackers who want to slum it out and get basic accommodation. We are not that kind of travelers. We like the good things in life and are willing to pay for it. Where do we begin. This place is next to some junkyard and a construction site (so be ready for a noisy morning). We had 2 rooms for our family of 4. My wife and I got this 3rd floor room which was very small and faced the steps and the kitchen (see the picture), so there was no way we could keep the blinds open, which meant that it was always dark inside (unless you put the lights on during the day). There is no TV in the rooms (and yes, I know we came to Galapagos for the nature etc, but sometimes it’s nice to put something on while you’re relaxing or wanting to watch sports or news); the WiFi is very spotty; and there is no place to keep your bags on (you have to use the bed every time). Again, they say this is a 3-star place ‍♂️ So far these were first world issues and nothing that we couldn’t overcome, however, the reason we decided to check out a day earlier is because this place is not safe or maintained well. There is no proper plumbing, as they have this sign near the toilet to dump your used toilet paper in the trash - EWW! (see picture). There were disgusting stains everywhere (see picture), one bathroom had only cold water in the shower, while the other one had only scorching hot water, barely any water pressure in the faucet, and the worst of all - we were greeted by ants in our sons’ room and by one of the largest cockroaches we’ve seen in our room. I could go on. And if your rooms are on the 3rd floor like ours, be extra careful with the dangerously narrow and steep steps. Did I mention they claim this to be a 3-star hotel? If this is your version of relaxation and pleasure, then knock yourself out. I signed up for an actual 3-star hotel in Isabela and instead I got something that was nothing like what the pictures claim to show. Don’t get cheated like we did and find a better place or at least go here with clear expectations. PS: if you’re pressed for time, you could entirely skip the island of Isabela, as it is very primitive and not fully developed. Maybe that’s your thing, but we found San Cristobal and Santa Cruz much more interesting and comfortable"

"This is a great place to stay at a reasonable price, especially if you need a bit of guidance on how to get the best out of a short stay on Isabela. Our host, Jackson, know the best tours and can arrange everything for you. He also took us on a walking tour of the town, painting out the best places to watch and shop."

"An 8 min walk from the port. Beach front location was perfect. Unfortunatly the aircon dining was not working and it was very humid, the staff offered a transfer to their sister hotel the Albermal a couple of minutes away. It looked great and the staff were great, though we didn’t experience the hotel. But the fact they offered an alternative was high up there for me. The albermal was lovely and all beach front with a pool"

"Dirty room: blood from squashed mosquitoes at the head of the bed, old socks from the previous occupants on the shelf. I cleaned it myself. Towels were faded and full of holes. No drinking water in the rooms with glasses, even though you shouldn't use tap water for brushing your teeth. No hooks or hanging space for clothes, and no wardrobe. The remote control for the air conditioning is in the breakfast room for all rooms. The windows aren't locked, and anyone can get in. No safe in the room. The nice tablecloths shown in the advertisements aren't there either. Mosquitoes in the room, and no mosquito net or hook in the ceiling for bringing your own. Conclusion: I know these kinds of dives from my backpacking days. But those only cost a fraction of what this "hotel" costs. Unfortunately, we had no choice. The tour operator Djoser booked us here."
