"One of the best meals I had during my trip to Cork. The chefs in Rare restaurant clearly take pride in their work, and every course was delicious. The hotel itself is stylish and comfortable, making for a thoroughly enjoyable stay."
The White Lady Hotel
The Kinsale 4 Center
The Old Bank Town House
"For the first time in years of reviewing, I cannot recommend this hotel. Our room was uncared for, with rust or burn marks all over the switch plates, filthy skylights, stains on the floor & furniture, & a hodgepodge velvet decor that looked like someone had just emptied an old attic. While it was cool outside, the room (on the top floor) was stifling, as the 1 window in each room was not opened prior to our arrival & could only open a crack. Yes, they provided a fan, but there were 3 of us sleeping in 2 separate rooms bc it was a suite & when we called their "24-hr reception service" number (4 different times) to ask for another fan (& cancel breakfast reservations), no one answered or called us back so my husband & I were uncomfortable all night. The main bed was way too hard & the folding one provided for our son was a joke--by far the worst I've ever seen & I spent my childhood sleeping on these. The frame had no support at all--we were actually worried it wouldn't take his weight--& the "mattress" was more akin to a pad you'd put on top of a mattress to make it softer than an actual mattress. Our son actually chose to sleep curled up on the loveseat instead, it was that bad. Both rooms had filthy skylights--the one right above the main bed was left open & we could only close it bc my husband is tall enough to reach it while standing on the bed. If we hadn't been able to, the morning sun would have been right in our eyes. The one in our son's area had no shade at all. There were LED floor lights in the carpet hallway which was just plain weird & felt unsafe. The room did have an updated bathroom that was very large, which was good, although whole areas of grout were covered in mold, which was not. From the pen scribbles on the uncovered tissue box to the comforter being improperly inserted into the duvet so it was all clumped up & everything in between, this place was just so unloved. It was like they had given up. Friendly enough staff but who cares when you can't sleep? Totally ruined our trip to Kinsale, which otherwise seemed like a very nice little town. Stay somewhere else so you can enjoy yourself & actually sleep!"
