"If you're considering booking at Tara Resort, there are a few things you should know beforehand to avoid any misunderstandings. 1. Beach and Surroundings The beach directly in front of the resort is unfortunately not ideal for relaxation. There are often sand fleas and also trash that washes up. This significantly detracts from the beach experience, especially if you want to walk barefoot. Furthermore, there are many stray and malnourished dogs on the island that are often chased away. Some guests, including myself, found it upsetting that dogs on the beach are sometimes roughly chased away or even hit. Anyone who loves animals should be aware of this beforehand. 2. Condition of the Resort The resort itself definitely needs improvement in terms of cleanliness. The rooms don't appear very well-maintained, and it's clear that many things aren't cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis. 3. Breakfast The breakfast is rather below average and very basic. You get a tray with a few standard items, for example: two slices of toast, sausages, some rice, and a few pieces of fruit. Unfortunately, it doesn't taste particularly good overall and is no comparison to the breakfast offerings at other resorts in a similar price range. 4. Restaurant Tip Right next to the resort, there's a small bakery/café that I highly recommend. The food there is fresh, delicious, and significantly better quality than the breakfast at the resort. 5. Personal Conclusion While the Tara Resort has a beautiful location and looks very idyllic in pictures, my stay didn't meet my expectations. Especially because of: beach quality, cleanliness, the basic breakfast, and the many stray dogs, I personally wouldn't return. Anyone looking for a well-maintained resort with a nicer beach and better overall quality should consider alternatives on Koh Mook or one of the neighboring islands."

"Absolutely delighted to have stay at this resort, set in a lush garden and tree line setting, and overlooking the shoreline. The tent accommodation with airconditioning and an ensuite was superb, spacious, clean, and having a balcony made our stay most enjoyable. The only drawback was.that the TV did not work, all in all, a minor hassle. Highly recommend! Note: if you come outside of the high season, Koh Muk is very quiet, and only a few establishments are open"

"Nice big rooms and hot water. Was very quiet when we stayed. Staff were very friendly. Not sure it's worth the price but anything decent on koh muk is bhat 3000+. Food was average. Better options in the village. "Perfect restaurant" located just 10mins walk away was excellent."

"What a lovely friendly hotel, in the centre of the island so not by the beach but nothing is far away on this tiny island. Hotel provides a few tuk tuk ride per day but any other ride on the island costs around £2 so no problem. Free bikes are available. Small shop opposite and a few restaurants you could walk to, but the Main Street (use this term lightly as really quiet and small) is only a short ride away. We went to Charlie beach for sunset and as long as you purchase a drink from the vendors (low cost) you can sit in deckchairs on the beach to enjoy the sunset. We went to Sivalie beach which was stunning and again if you purchase a drink you can use chairs from the hotel. The whole island was pretty. The people are so friendly and helpful we are so glad we stayed for 2 nights Our room was nice, safe, water, kettle. Fridge, hairdryer, very clean we overlooked the pool which was lovely it had a few sun loungers around it and was great for a dip after sightseeing. Breakfast was served in the restaurant and was served to you, you chose from a set menu it was all freshly cooked and was delicious the restaurant was also a great place for a pre or post dinner drink. Loved the friendly staff here and would recommend The monkeys came to visit one afternoon it was nice to watch them playing There was a few things to do on the island and it’s a great place to stay for a few days we only stayed 2 nights but could have easily done 4"

"Stayed here for the past 4 nights in a house with air conditioning (I can recommend this to everyone, because without air conditioning it is very hot). Nice house with a lovely veranda and a shower with hot water. Beds were a bit on the hard side for us. Wan is a wonderful hostess and arranges everything. Mookies is a 5 minute walk from Charlies Beach. We had rented a scooter through Mookies (250 baht per day) and that was nice to zip around to the center in the evening. Koh Mook is a quiet and relaxed island. We had a wonderful stay there and can recommend it to everyone. It is very clean, quiet and you can reach the center in 5 minutes by scooter."

"Spacious rooms, average cleanliness considering cleanliness is a relative factor in Thailand. The location is a bit out of the way, but you can rent scooters for 250 baht, while a taxi for two people costs 100 baht. Breakfast was good: eggs, toast, fruit, coffee or tea, yogurt with muesli, and real fruit juice (not from a carton). Excellent quality for the price."
