"We stayed at Jewel Kongchen, Lachung, North Sikkim, for 2 nights. For enjoying the celestial events like Solar Halos at times from Yamthung Valley or heavenly beauty of Zero-Point at North Sikkim, tourists have to stay at Lachung overnight, and drive higher up to the mountains to reach Yamthung and Zero Point. Also, the road journey from Gangtok to Lachung is a difficult one due to the road conditions. Bumpy, wavy, narrow roads, steep slopes, make you feel tired by the time you reach Lachung. So staying at this place has to be comfortable to recover from the tiredness of the day’s journey and to prepare for the next day’s trip. Jewel Kongchen is a three-star hotel located almost at the entry point of Lachung. We were booked here by our tour operator Lord Tours&Travels. On arrival, we were immediately checked in. Hotel staff shifted our luggage from the car to the room. We were warmly greeted. Nice clean spacious room and balcony welcomed us with a mountain view just in front. Immediately, we forgot the stress of the road journey and enjoyed delicious veg pakora and ginger tea served in minutes in the room itself. Staying in this hotel was very comfortable. On a full moon night, this hotel offers the advantage of seeing a snow-capped mountain in moonlight which we found extraordinary. Though we have seen sunrise and sunset views of Kanchenjunga from many other spots of Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Gangtok, this was the first time experience of seeing a mountain in moonlight. In a remote location like Lachung such comfortable stay was quite unexpected. All the meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner were fresh and vegetarian. The owner Manager and all his staff members were extremely cordial and courteous."
