Hotel Saigerhöh Wellness Spa Golf Wandern über Dem Titisee ★★★★

📍 Saiger Höhe 8-10, Lenzkirch

"Hotel Saigerhöh – Mixed Feelings Our experience at Hotel Saigerhöh left us with mixed feelings, but I’ll try to describe it as accurately as possible. From the moment we arrived, things felt a bit off. The hotel is located at the end of a dead-end street, past a football field and a small construction site, surrounded by a bit of forest and perched on top of a hill. While the view over the valley from the hotel is indeed stunning, the building itself and its architectural style are rather uninspiring. Upon arrival, we were offered a welcome drink on a small, half-covered terrace—which also serves as the hotel's main smoking area. I understand that smoking is still relatively common in Germany, but we stayed there for no more than five minutes. When I told the reception staff I didn’t want to sit among smokers and asked if this was a usual practice, they seemed quite puzzled by the question. The hotel is large and spread across both sides of the street, connected by underground tunnels. We were given a short tour by a student worker, which was helpful. Our room was very spacious but extremely dated—the decor felt like it hadn’t changed since my grandmother’s time. It was hard to feel comfortable in it. The bathroom, however, had been recently renovated, so I suspect not all rooms have been updated yet. The wellness area is appreciated and has potential, but given the available space, more could certainly be done with it. In the evening, we went for a drink at the bar. Despite there being only three tables with guests, the bartender still managed to take over 30 minutes to serve us two drinks. We had dinner at the hotel only once (at €60 per person), and it was a real disappointment. While the dishes were nicely presented, the quality was far below what you’d expect from a 4-star hotel. The risotto, for instance, was unpleasant and far too salty. The fish was supposedly filleted but had not been cleaned properly—basic mistakes. This lack of quality was also noticeable in the service during both dinner and breakfast. The restaurant staff seemed uncoordinated and lost, with no clear supervision. At one point, our dessert was served to the wrong table, taken back to the kitchen, and then brought to us—by then, the sorbet was completely melted. That was the final straw for us. We decided to eat elsewhere for the remaining four nights. Interestingly, it seemed others had the same idea, as the hotel staff were actively encouraging guests at breakfast to reserve for dinner, even passing around a form to select your meal in advance. Breakfast itself was fairly extensive, but again, not up to 4-star standards. Food wasn’t fresh or properly presented—low-quality salmon, sour "freshly cut" fruit, etc. Also, finding a table on the terrace was a bit of a battle, as there weren’t enough of them. The only real highlights of the hotel were the wellness area and the view. Aside from that, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, and I won’t be returning."

"In case of problems, help was quick and the breakfast was plentiful. At dinner, the lady told us that the table for 5 people was not for 2. But the day before, only 2 people had sat there. Today, only 1 person sat at the table for 5. We then went out to eat. Even as hotel guests, we weren't allowed to sit there. That's completely unacceptable."

"Relaxed, very friendly, clean, delicious, amazingly quiet and spacious. Great pool and spa area. And waiters and waitresses who are very patient with the children, thank you! And we slept very well, what more could you want. It was relatively cheap too!"

Hotel Restaurant Schwörer ★★★

📍 Ludwig-Kegel-Straße 25, Lenzkirch

"We stayed for two nights at the Hotel Schwörer in Lenzkirch in the Black Forest. The hotel is a simple, three-star establishment that was very clean and, with its friendly staff, made a very good impression on us. It's situated in a very quiet location. The center of Lenzkirch is a pleasant 10-minute walk away. Breakfast is rather modest and not very varied, but of good, fresh quality. The hotel also offers half-board, but we ate à la carte both evenings. While the menu isn't extensive, it was perfectly adequate, and the kitchen did an excellent job. The value for money is very good. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Hotel Schwörer in Lenzkirch for a trip to the Black Forest, although there's still room for improvement in the Black Forest itself."

Hotel Saigerhöh Wellness Spa Golf Wandern über Dem Titisee ★★★★
"As regular guests of this establishment, we were disappointed to find a significant decline in service (likely due to a change in management). This stay was a series of unacceptable disappointments, especially considering our budget of over €1200 for two nights. The value for money is appalling: I booked a suite for €260 per night. Finding it particularly outdated and inferior to my sister's standard room (which cost €170), we asked to change to a similar room. The hotel not only maintained the suite price for this inferior room but also demanded an additional €20. Paying nearly €300 for a standard room (double the normal rate) is tantamount to highway robbery. The meals and drinks are also overpriced for the quality offered. The customer service is deplorable: Following our complaints, I was given a formal meeting with the manager. He never showed up and didn't even bother to come see us. A complete lack of courage and professionalism on the part of management. Staff and service: The reception was utterly cold and the staff were generally unfriendly. To top it all off, on the day of our departure, the room safe broke down. We had to wait 40 minutes for a technician to come, making our departure late without the slightest apology from the hotel. This hotel has completely lost the sense of service that was its strength. An establishment to avoid; profitability has clearly replaced customer satisfaction."

Hotel Restaurant Schwörer ★★★
"I had a fantastic stay at Hotel Schwörer in Lenzkirch and can wholeheartedly recommend it! Everything was perfect from start to finish. Service: The staff is exceptionally friendly, attentive, and helpful. You immediately feel welcome and very well looked after. A big thank you to the entire team! Cleanliness: The entire hotel, from the public areas to our room, was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. Location: The location is ideal – quiet yet central. You can easily reach the center of Lenzkirch on foot, and it's also a great base for hikes and excursions in the Black Forest. There is also ample parking. Room: My room was modern and very tastefully furnished. It was spacious, quiet, and had everything you need for a comfortable stay. The bed was very comfortable. Value for money & food: The value for money is excellent. The outstanding breakfast buffet deserves special mention; it leaves nothing to be desired – plentiful, fresh, and featuring regional products. Dinner in the restaurant was also delicious, with a good selection of Black Forest specialties. I also appreciate the free Wi-Fi and the benefits of the Hochschwarzwald Card offered by the hotel. Hotel Schwörer is a truly wonderful family-run hotel, managed with great care and dedication. I'd love to come back!"
