Château la Rose Perrière
"Excellence in Bordeaux! The castle welcomes you in an exceptional setting and offers three immersive rooms in the Lussac vineyards. In addition to a tasting of the best wines, including a St Emilion grand cru, you benefit from a hearty breakfast. Ideal starting point for visiting the region."
Pavillon des Millésimes, Piscine & Spa
"I couldn’t recommend Pavillon more highly. We stayed for 3 nights recently and thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The building and decor is beautiful and our room was excellent. David and Natherlie were so helpful, attentive and engaging. The food and wine was memorable and the location was ideal for us. We hope to return to the region soon and when we do, plan to stay at Pavillon once again."
Château la Grande Clotte
"The hotel is very new; it's a guesthouse affiliated with a winery, surrounded by vineyards, and the sunsets are beautiful. The owners were very friendly and gave us a lot of information."
Château Latour Segur Suites & Spa
"I am a 63 world-traveller, and this was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. It was so bad that my wife and I had to leave after 1 night of our 3 scheduled. Here's why: When we arrived (soon after the check-in time), the host was not there, and the cleaning lady let us in our room. It turned out it was the wrong room. (The host later offered to let us stay in this “upgraded” room, saying it was better than the other; we never got to see the one we had reserved.) The room REEKED of smoke from the fireplace (so much so that I can't remove the smell from my cpap and other belongings). We didn't say a word about this because it was the least of the problems. There were LOTS of flies in the room (which was decent enough, though a bit shabby in places). After about an hour, the host arrived, and showed us the property. When I asked for a fly-swatter, she was amazed that we would care about a bunch of flies, but she did eventually bring one a couple hours later. We had to spend a LOT of time killing those flies. We also noticed that the screens were not properly in place, accounting for the flies (it was hot, so windows had been left open). Again, when we pointed this out, rather than apologizing, the host seemed amazed that we would care about huge gaps in the window screens.. A while later, the host's elderly husband came around (uninvited), and opened our door without waiting for us to ask him in. He stood in the doorway with the door open and flies buzzing about, just after we had spent so much time killing the flies already in the room. We asked him to come in and close the door right away to keep the flies out, at which he waved his hands about as though WE were crazy. He came in and began walking around our room talking strangely. He said something about a car race around the property scheduled for the next day, but dismissed it as no concern. We had heard NOTHING about that, nor was it listed in the ******* page on the property, even though it’s an annual event there. We would NOT have booked this place had we known about the race, as we were looking for the peace and quiet advertised on their ******* page and elsewhere. We asked him when it would be finished, and he said “certainly by 2 PM.” Since this was before our outings were to finished, we weren’t too concerned. The next morning, as we were relaxing before 2 outings we had planned, we heard continuous sirens for about an hour. We then began to hear the buzzing of the race cars driving immediately outside the property. It was LOUD! The husband came around again to show us how to safely leave the property. Again, he stood in the doorway, and we had to ask again for him to come in and shut the door, which he did with showy belligerence in the slowest possible way while mocking us for caring about the flies. I then asked him to speak with me outside. He lights up a cigarette right outside our window as I explain to him that we are deeply disturbed by the race."
Chambre d'hôtes Château de Lussac
"We booked this chateau after seeing in a local guidemap for the city of Saint Emilion. The check in was bungled as we did not receive information prior to check-in. One needs a code to open the garage door, a code to enter the building and then a combination to retrieve the room key. When someone helped us after ringing the interphone outside I was quite disappointed that we were not actually staying in the chateau itself, but in a building adjoining it. However, the room was well-appointed, comfortable and large with a terrific A/C split system. I later understood that rooms in the chateau itself are available, but need to be requested. The breakfast was simple - in the style of the french petit dejeuner (breads, coffee/tea, juice) and was taken in the chateau. That was the best part as we walked through the charming kitchen into the breakfast area. The host for breakfast, a québécoise, was very nice and helpful. On the second day of breakfast we asked her if it was possible to have eggs and she graciously prepared some although I'm sure this is not included. All in all, it was a great experience."
