Luzmar Villas ★★★★
"+ Excellent breakfast with fresh, quality products. The buffet dinner is very good. Quiet area and pleasant, well-maintained outdoor space. -Not all employees speak Portuguese, which reveals that the hotel is very geared towards foreign clients. Far from the beach and without nearby gastronomic options."
A28 - Castela Street Townhouse in Espiche ★★★
"A bit odd to find the place. Unfortunately, we had to catch up the keys somewhere else and the room wasn't very clean."
Montinho de Ouro ★★★
"We have stayed here 5 times in total, but will not be back. I’ve always had a good rapport with the owner (over email), but she didn’t even seem bothered to reply, prior to our stay. While there, she sent a cleaner down to the pool area to tell us (a group of 4) to be quiet, as long stay guests were trying to read their books. No compromise, no discussion. We have since found a nice spot in Alvor, where all guests are treated with respect, and the food offering is far superior."
Belavista Da Luz - Wellness & Lifestyle Hotel ★★★★
"Family hotel with excellent comfort"
Belver Porto Dona Maria Resort ★★★★
"Everything is perfect, very good surprise"
Vilamar ★★★
"Spectacular. I loved. Very professional, pleasant, available and friendly people. Comfortable, beautiful and very clean place. 👏🏻"
Vila Luz ★★★★
"Breakfast is delicious. Egg tarts and espresso are the best. Sunrise can be seen from the front of the room."
Quinta do Mar da Luz - Country & Sea Village ★★★
"Very nice, and there's also transport available, and a lovely little town for swimming is a 20-minute walk away, everything was perfect."
Casa Rosa Montes ★★★
"Hotel service is in place, quiet environment, perfect security facilities, excellent location"

Oasis Beach Apartments
"Just returned from Oasis Beach. We enjoyed it there so much that we couldn't bear to come home, and extended our stay: We had a one bedroom apartment - B1B. Couldn't fault it. Perfect. Spacious, clean, and with absolutely everything we needed. 2 balconies, one from the kitchen with early morning sun, and one from the lounge and bedroom with sun from 11am till sunset. Sun loungers, cushions, table and chairs. Lovely kitchen fully equipped with everything we needed. Full sized fridge freezer. Good quality pots and pans, crockery and utensils. (There isn't an oven. That might've been helpful as we don't use a microwave.) It was wonderful to have a bath tub. There wasn't a plug when we arrived, but the helpful girls on reception said they would look for one that day, and if there wasn't one, they would go and buy one for us. Note that the one bedroom apartments are on the first floor. Studios are on the ground floor where the smaller balconies don't get any sun. Jessica and the other ladies on reception were so helpful. Knowledgeable about the local area and more than happy to help us arrange a day out with a driver. We were even brought a gift of local pastries and a bottle of port. Towels were changed every other day, sheets once during our 12 day stay, which was fine for us. Free safe in room, just ask at reception for the key. The location is perfect. Peaceful. Only 3-4 minutes' walk to the beach, cafes, bars and restaraunts and the centre of Luz. The swimming pool is fairly small, but clean, and wasn't busy. The lawn area around is partly shaded during the day. The beach is beautiful. Clean, and not overcrowded at this time of year. Sea was pretty cold and some quite big waves. Lots of lifeguards, which was good to see. Sun loungers cost 20 euros a day, or 14 euros after 2pm. You can take your own food and drinks to the beach, or buy from the nearby bar or kiosk. Plenty of food options in Luz, and all of very good quality, except for one. I would avoid Atlantico. The staff were very rude. My chicken was rubbery and not of good quality. Wasn't even warm. Nobody asked if it was OK. When it came to paying the bill, I wanted to pay less. That wasn't an option. The chef came out, poked my chicken with a fork, said it was fine, and then threatened to call the police unless we paid in full. Appalling. Everywhere else we ate was exceptionally good. The Forteleza has a beautiful garden overlooking the sea and has Sunday afternoon live band and jazz sessions. Great vibe. Well worth making time for. Very quiet in Luz in the evenings. Everywhere closed by 9.30 - 10pm. Need to eat by around 8.30 at the latest. 2 well stocked supermarkets within 5 minutes' walk. Baptista will deliver your groceries to the apartment gates free of charge. Just do your shopping as normal, pay at the checkout and then leave in your basket. Arrange at the till for them to deliver. Ours arrived within half an hour. The bus service into Lagos is reliable, cheap and co"
Luz Bay Hotel
"I write this review as someone who has visited the Algarve, specifically Praia da Luz, at least once a year the past 20 years or so. The positives: the location, it has a pool. The negatives: it is not a 4 star hotel. I don't know where they get their ratings from but whoever rated it 4* should be suspended, sacked or shot. Preferably shot. My room developed a leak through a crack in the ceiling creating a large puddle at the end of my room. The solution I would have expected to such an issue would be to move me. Nope. The cleaner came in, mopped up both ceiling and floor only for it to return later in the day. You pay for wifi per device per day. Ridiculous from a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was edible. Just. Which is a crying shame as Portuguese food is out of this world when done properly. I couldn't close the windows in my bathroom. As such had creepy insects invade my room. I thoroughly recommend visiting Praia da Luz, great little place not far from Lagos with a cracking beach, just don't book here unless you expect nothing more than a truly basic hotel with a medium sized pool. Like I say, good location but that's about it. Needs some investment and lessons in customer service. Has potential, but falls drastically short."
