"A disappointing Sunday roast. The vegetables tasted undercooked, the topside of beef was chewy nd not easy to cut and the flabby Yorkshire pudding should have stayed in the kitchen .Luke warm plates meant the food did not hold its heat for long. Previous experiences had been fine but not today"

"We liked this place very much. It's beautifully located on the River Lyn just a short walking distance from the centre of the pretty village. Our hosts Russell and Nicki were very helpful and keen to assist us with our exploration of the area. Our room was excellent and breakfast was great! It was very pleasant sitting on the front porch and watching the river go by. It's also interesting to turn left at the front door (instead of right, into town) to stroll upstream into the steep and beautiful forested countryside. Our accommodation was booked by Macs Adventures, which organised our South West Coast Path Walk and we absolutely applaud their choice!"

"We were upgraded on arrival which was appreciated. Very kind and helpful staff. Despite it being a pub we had a very quiet evening and had gone to bed fairly early due to the drive from London. Breakfast was good value but I would’ve appreciated it if it were more flexible for allergies-I wanted a full English but it wasn’t dairy safe(I think just from the butter on toast so would’ve preferred if that was just excluded) but they take allergies seriously which is the main thing as not everywhere does. Very short drive to Instow where you can have a hockings on the beach!"

"We went saw this beautiful place over the other side of the stream & decided it looks a lovely place to sit for a drink before heading home. Talk about Rude, grumpy old man is an understatement. We soon saw why the couple already there was glad to see us arrive, poor things made a hasty retreat. The grumpy man grumped at us 2 cream tea's, no my partner said only 1 coffee & 1 coke please, grumpy man, then repeated 2 cream tea's, that's what you get here. We said OK, we'll go & get just a drink somewhere else. Oh fine 1 tea & 1 coke. My partner gave in & had tea not coffee. He brought me a coke zero, so I said I want original coke. Grumpy growled, why can you tell the difference. He then said to us give me a £10 note & I have £3 change in my hand. We have never been anywhere with anyone that Rude, grumpy & ignorant. Such an awful man to be living somewhere that so beautiful & lovely with everyone else being so friendly."
