"Dimitrs resort was a great find. Friendly helpful staff,great swimming pool and ice cold beer.The rooms have a shady outside area(which is good when extremely hot).The room was clean and the a/c was cold. Good family rooms with 2 bed plus bunk beds. The evenings there are quiet and peaceful. Quick tip,there's no kettle in the room but ask and it's no problem to get 1. Also smart tv in the room which is a big plus. Dimitri himself is a good guy and will try to help you as much as he can.Thanks for the glasses."

Matala Bay Hotel & Apartments

"This was disappointing. Booked a room for 4 and was told when I got to the hotel that there were no rooms available, but I should get an extra bed in the room. When we returned after dinner at the restaurant at midnight, there was no bed. The person at the reception just said that there was no bed available. Got an extra room on another floor. This room was filthy and had no working A/C! No refund or compensation after discussions with the hotel. The restaurant in the hotel was far below average. This hotel is not recommended! There are many other local rooms and houses that maintain a much better standard at a lower price!"

"Top hotel, great French-speaking welcome! I went there in July 2022 during July 14. They prepared a party especially for the French! Very lively hotel and close to the sea... and then the meals (especially the feta 😋) a delight!"

"excellent hostel, friendly people run by young people, they organise evenings such as eating out or pub crawls, etc. you can get a private room with a double bed and nice AC, there is a mini fridge, and right next to the bus stop if you are coming from heraklion bus station, you will have to change buses halfway through however"

"The hospitality was warm and we were offered everything we needed during our stay without any problems or delays, especially during the period we were there during the Matala Beach Festival! The aesthetics of the hotel are traditional and the location is ideal, as it is only 2 minutes from the beach. The hosts are people with a lot of love and passion for what they do! Thank you very much for the hospitality, we will definitely visit it when we are there again!!"

"ATTENTION, SCAM ! Don’t fall for the pictures and reviews as i did. If you‘re looking for a place with furniture of the 1960‘s and atmosphere of a bad horror movie of the 1980‘s, that‘s the place to be! The weird -and sometimes really scary- owner Olympios is ruling his place like a Maharadscha for now 33 years, selects who can stay at his hotel (his words), no internet in the rooms, no TV, the pool is closed before 8am and after 8pm (but is not inviting anyway, directly beside the street, no shade, basic sunbeds without pillows…). But the worst about this place is the lack of atmosphere and renovation. Gives you a permanent feeling of being closed in a place where you do not want to be, horrible. And it was almost empty when we were there which made it even more suspicious…I took some picture where you can see state of the bathrooms, the reception with a switchboard on the right that is so old that it is almost cool (but also a bit scary!)….my 2 teenage boys were so scared and disappointed when arriving at the place (as me) that we immediately looked for another one. We stayed one night instead of the 5 booked and Olympios refused to pay back the difference of the down payment referring to a special law in Greece. THINK 3 TIMES BEFORE YOU BOOK THIS PLACE AND VISIT IT BEFORE IF YOU CAN !"

Elea Terra Hotel

"Eléa Terra Hotel in Matala is a very nice Place. Maria and her team is lovely and allways helpful. Breakfast is excellent, fresh and you can est as much as you want. The cleaning ladies are working hard, thus the rooms, beds and towels are allways clean. Alexandro is the best Barkeeper @ poolbar and a helping hand to Maria. Thanx for the Raki. 🙂 From the Hotel it is less than five minutes to Walk to the Beach and there is a Bus stop directly in front of the Hotel. You can visit the Ruins of Faistos, a saturday market in Moires. Besutiful is the Red Beach. Besutiful Bars and Shops in Matala with best Gyros. Nice towns like Pitsidia, Kamilari or Kalamaki can be visited by foot, too. See you next Summer!"
