Shimobe Hotel ★★★★

📍 1900 Uenotaira, Minobu

"We are repeat guests, a family of four with two elementary school-aged children. This time, we stayed in a suite that was renovated in August 2024. The room itself was perfectly fine, though for a family of our size, having only one toilet felt a bit limited. Despite being an older building, this hotel is impeccably clean and surprisingly comfortable. The staff also consistently impressed us with their kindness and friendliness. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious. We would love to stay here again!"

📍 56 Shimobe, Minamikoma District, Minobu

"First of all, it is inexpensive. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations considering the price, but the meals, both dinner and breakfast, were satisfying. There are two types of hot springs: lukewarm (not heated) and hot (heated and filtered), and you alternate between them to enjoy the benefits. It was unseasonably hot that day, so I was able to fully enjoy both the lukewarm and the hot water that came after. There was only one foreign couple there that day, and they probably didn't know how to take a bath, so it was unfortunate that towels were left in a mess in the changing room, but it was within the range of what could be tolerated. The inn itself is not exactly clean, but if you want to enjoy the Showa era atmosphere and baths, such as the entrance to the room being open, it is the best inn. The owners and their husbands are likeable people with good personalities. I will definitely come back."

📍 3591 Minobu, Minamikoma District, Minobu

"It was wonderful. Simple and unpretentious, it was a truly refreshing experience for both mind and body. Despite having a guesthouse-like atmosphere, there was a comfortable sense of distance, which was really great. I would love to visit again if I have the opportunity. Thank you so much for everything."

Temple Lodging Shukubo Kakurinbo ★★

📍 Minobu3510, Minobu

"There were many foreign guests, and I felt that they were making an effort to promote Japanese culture. You can enjoy the view of the garden from the bath and dining room. We changed the check-in schedule from the beginning, but they readily agreed to it. During breakfast, I was fascinated by the peaceful swimming of Nishikigoi in the pond. Participating in the morning shift is thrilling on the dark streets at night. I had to give up on the summit of Mt. Minobu this time because I couldn't see the sign and took the wrong route, and it was cold and rainy, and visibility was poor, but it was a good opportunity to refresh myself. thank you"

"Very satisfied. The room given to us was independent, and the song tablet of Miyazawa Xianzhi was hung inside, which was very touched. Traveling in Japan, you can also use Trip.com , without the Japanese App booking feels very good."

Daikokuya ★★★
"The accommodation fee is relatively cheap compared to surrounding facilities. The building is old, so there are some signs of wear, but the interior is more charming than the exterior. There was a sign prohibiting smoking in the rooms, but there was a lingering smell from previous smoking in the room. The dining room was very clean. While the food wasn't particularly eye-catching, it was carefully prepared and generally well-seasoned. The rice was delicious. There's a river nearby, so mosquitoes and flying insects would get into the room, so mosquito coils were always provided. Because of the recent rain, the sound of the flowing river was loud, which was a nuisance when it came to sleeping. The toilet and bathroom are shared, and there is no refrigerator in the room, but Wi-Fi is available. The men's toilet has a Western-style seat, while the women's is a Japanese-style, which I found inconvenient. The hot spring water quality was good. There are two types: low-temperature and warm-temperature. The low-temperature hot spring water is drinkable. There was hot spring water for drinking in the room. The rock bath and cypress bath are alternately used by men and women each day. The changing room for the cypress bath has no blinds facing the river, which may make some women feel uneasy, but although the river is a terrain that prevents people from entering, it would be appreciated if blind curtains or blind stickers could be installed on the glass. The inn staff were very courteous. The accommodation cost is reasonable, so I think you'll be satisfied."

Temple Lodging Shukubo Kakurinbo ★★
"I quite simply cannot recommend Kakurinbo enough. Why? Kakurinbo is a historic temple lodging (over 550 years old!) that now welcomes tourists. It was an experience like no other — from baths infused with wine to relax sore muscles, to courses upon courses of delicious home-made and locally sourced dishes. Everyone who works at Kakurinbo is incredibly kind, attentive, dedicated, and hospitable. We are vegan and gluten free, and were made to feel welcome and definitely very well fed! We also had the chance to attend the morning bell ringing and chanting up at Kuon-ji temple (this is a must-see!), hike up the sacred Mount Minobu, and witness a pilgrimage of Nichiren believers."

Hotel Morita ★★★
"I was a little hesitant at first about the low-temperature hot spring, but I got hooked. Thank you very much. To be honest, there's nothing around, but that actually made it a nice way to relax. It's nice to just lose track of time as you watch the trees change color and listen to the wild birds chirping."

Ryokan Tanakaya ★★★
"The Taisho period hot spring hotel brought a perfect end to a tiring day. Because it was already late when we arrived at Minobu Town, it was already past the dinner reservation time. The hotel owner not only helped us patiently try to contact nearby restaurants that might still be open, but in the end They even made an exception and provided us with free dinner delivered to the room (it also specifically stated that it was "サービス"). One of the older waiters asked us if we were here because of "Swinging Camping" (laughs) The boss is really a gentle and enthusiastic person. He smiles every time he sees us. The waiter at the hotel was also very attentive. He was waiting outside the door at 7 o'clock in the morning and took us to the breakfast dining area. Although the hotel's hot spring is small, it has all the facilities. It also provides matching yukata, haori and socks. The Japanese room also far exceeded expectations, just like those in Japanese comics and games. If I have a chance to come to Miyanoyama next time, I will definitely book with them again!"
